Java Developer | Toronto, ONThe Select Group is seeking a Backend Java Developer with experience in Java 11+, Spring Boot, and MongoDB for a contract opportunity with a top 5 banking client in Canada! Please review the details below and apply today!Client: BankingDuration: 6-month contract (with expectation of FTE conversion)Location: Toronto, ON (once a week on-site)Overall Responsibilities:· Develop backend solutions using Java and Spring Boot, ensuring that code and configurations adhere to security, logging, error handling, and performance standards, as well as non-functional requirements.· Collaborate with subject matter experts across the business, including infrastructure, operations, applications, vendors, and leads, to seek input and plan/coordinate development, define requirements, and timelines.· Assess the impact of design decisions on banking solutions/products/services being developed, including performance, schedule, budget, downstream component/system impact, and quality, and recommend alternate/creative solutions for mitigation/optimization if required.· Translate business requirements into detailed design specifications and code.· interact with key business and technology stakeholders to define, analyze, and deliver requirements that reflect the needs of both the business and end-customers.· Identify emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making, assess costs and benefits for different solutions, and decide on appropriate designs.· Stay up to date on latest industry technical and business trends.· Work in an Agile environment with a continuous improvement mindset and culture.Your Mindset:· You are a self-starter, driven and can handle multiple projects and priorities.· You are passionate about driving customer values with digital acceleration mindset and culture in a fast-paced, challenging environment where you get the opportunity to work with a spectrum of latest tools and technologies to drive forward continuous improvement.· You are actively looking to improve the solutions you implement, understand the efficacy of collaboration and reaching out across functional borders and are keen to work in a team in an Agile environment.· As a member of this team, you should possess the ability to inspire yourself and your team. Based on your previous experiences you will inject new knowledge and skills into an already high performing team thus excelling our efforts to new heights.Desired Skills and Experience:· A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.· Strong programming skills with hands-on experience designing and implementing high volume, high availability applications with a very high degree of automation.· In-depth knowledge of the required programming languages, frameworks, and technologies, including Java 11+, Spring Boot, MongoDB, JSON and XML data notations.· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.· Experience in evaluating trade-offs and making constructive calls with other teams while balancing perfection and compromise.· An in-depth level of understanding with software development principles· Experience with AWS is a plus.
