Reporting to the Senior Manager, Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting, this role is integral to the accounting and financial reporting cycle, providing support and guidance on technical accounting matters, along with coordinating the preparation of the consolidated financial statements, ensuring completeness and accuracy, in compliance with IFRS Accounting standards. Key Accountabilities: Analyze transactions and document accounting positions to ensure accurate accounting and disclosure. Act as subject matter expert on technical accounting matters, including (but not limited to) revenue recognition, business combination, leases, share-based payments, and hedge accounting. Monitor and assess the impact of new and emerging accounting standards and lead the implementations as applicable to the company. Provide technical accounting training to broader finance team and business partners Responsible for the general ledger structure and consolidation rules in Workday to ensure financial statements reflect company organization and filing requirements Build and maintain accounting policies and internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) Direct month-end and quarter-end accounting and financial reporting activities for the parent company and certain subsidiaries Review subsidiaries’ financial statements for accuracy and completeness Liaise with external auditors during quarterly interim reviews and year-end audit Lead all aspects of the accounting and financial reporting for defined benefit plans Recommend operational improvements and participate in the implementation of projects Foster positive relationships with management throughout the company to better understand and consult on business issues Must Haves: University undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting Canadian CPA designation (or equivalent) 5+ years of experience in public accounting and/or financial reporting role in a publicly-traded company In-depth understanding of IFRS Accounting Standards and working knowledge of external reporting requirements for publicly traded companies Excellent written and verbal communication, along with superior presentation skills Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities Strong attention to detail and accuracy, coupled with a big-picture strategic understanding Effective and positive management style supporting staff through example, coaching and development Works effectively across organizational lines and promote an effective team-based environment Nice to Haves: Workday Financial Management Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Slides) Working knowledge of US GAAP-to-IFRS differences In the market for… Excitement - Explore emerging technology and innovation, as well as ventures and digital finance that shape the future of global markets!
