Here is the jobdescription: Senior Production Manager – Major Steel Mill ( Steel Manufacturing) Primary Responsibilities: Provides and oversees a safety program that complies and/or exceeds department, company and OSHA standards. Reports/investigates all accidents and potential accidents, identifies the root cause of the accident/incident and determines proper corrective action. Provides management and direction to develop, maintain and revise standard job procedures. Manages and controls the daily operation of the section. Responsible for operating costs, labor costs, overtime and supplies. Provides management and direction in collaboration with the Section Manager, Maintenance to develop and implement long and short range plans for inspecting, servicing, maintaining and installing equipment necessary to minimize downtime and loss of production. Develops and implements section objectives, organizational structure, staffing requirements and operating budget. Submits timely reports pertaining to safety, man-hour costs, overtime, problems, accomplishments and records achieved. Stays up-to-date on current industry standards and methods by attending conferences, training programs, reading journals and interaction with peers in the industry. Establishes a work practice for safe conduct of all subcontractors and vendors that work in the department/section. Addresses all grievances that are brought to his/her attention and deals with them appropriately, either by investigating, settling, or referring them to the Department Manager. Qualifications : Bachelor’s degree in general management, related field or equivalent experience in the steelmaking industry. Five years of Hot Strip Mill experience required Ability to evaluate and resolve problems, correctly focus the resources and make efficient decisions through the application of job know-how. Strong leadership, negotiation, interpersonal, and communications skills. Experience using Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
