Health and Safety Specialist & 5S Coordinator

Job Description:Join our dynamic team as a Health and Safety and 5S Coordinator you will embark on a journey to enhance workplace well-being. As an intern, you'll have the opportunity to dive into the intricacies of health and safety protocols, gaining hands-on experience in risk assessment, incident investigation, and safety program development. Collaborate with seasoned professionals, contribute to a culture of safety excellence, and make a real impact on the health and well-being of our workforce. Key Responsibilities:Collaborate with EHS and the plant’s MESH Champions to facilitate compliance with local and corporate requirements.Drive rapid improvement in key site EHS programs, such as emergency response, powered industrial trucks, lockout/tagout, fall protection, waste management, and machine safeguarding.Coordinate activities to prepare the plant for its validated EHS audit, including coaching employees and leaders, scheduling, room bookings, and Gemba walks.Support the plant’s Joint Health and Safety Committee, helping to directly resolve hazards they identify.Deliver and coordinate health and safety training to production and office employees.Participate in plant 5S+ activities, LEAN events, and weekly EHS-related kaizens.Complete monthly first aid, eyewash, safety shower, and spill kit inspections.Perform data entry of incidents into the corporate tracking system, Prism.File hard copy and electronic EHS records.Assist and support Health and Safety documentation, including policies, procedures, work instructions, and archiving.Assist team members in maintaining a safe and healthy workplace.Participate in meetings and training related to Health and Safety matters.Assist in maintaining health and safety records.Perform data entry to track training compliance.Key Skills and Characteristics:Attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.Professionalism and the ability to maintain confidentiality.Intermediate knowledge of MS Office.Must be a team player and able to work in a fast-paced environment.Manufacturing experience is a must.5S experience is a must.Education/Experience Desired:Currently enrolled as a full-time post-secondary student in a recognized institution.Have completed one year in a program of a related discipline.If your skills and experience align with the requirements outlined above, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
