Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Controller, this role is integral to the accounting and financial reporting cycle, managing end-of-period closes, driving process efficiencies, promoting a strong control environment, and serving as key accounting resource for cross functional business partners. Key Accountabilities: Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting close activities for key operating subsidiaries, ensuring compliance with IFRS Accounting Standards and internal accounting policies, while adhering to internal and external reporting timelines Manage close checklists, review journal entries and account reconciliations, promoting continuous improvement and maintaining strong internal controls Partner with other departments to understand and support business processes, ensure proper accounting, and resolve reconciling differences Conduct trial balance reviews, providing insights and analysis on trends and material movements Leverage technology to build scalable/sustainable processes to create efficiencies, streamline accounting operations, and improve the employee experience Manage the accounting for HR/payroll-related activities, including accounting for long-term incentive plans Review financial ratios and covenants, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements Act as the functional owner for accounting processes within Workday; recommend customization decisions and content releases, inform application roadmaps, and develop end-user training Lead efforts to centralize, standardize, rationalize, and optimize accounting and financial reporting activities Define and monitor key success metrics and accounting capacity as part of the planning, prioritization and execution of recommended roadmap items Support high priority initiatives, including M&A, integrations, reorganizations, and automation opportunities Must haves: University undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting Canadian CPA designation (or equivalent) 7+ years of relevant experience in accounting and 4+ years of people management experience Experience in multi-entity structures Subject matter expertise related to large-scale general ledger or accounting systems such as Workday, Oracle, or SAP In-depth understanding of IFRS Accounting Standards and working knowledge of external reporting requirements for publicly traded companies Strong attention to detail and accuracy, coupled with a big-picture strategic understanding Proven ability to foster a culture of continuous improvement and delivering quality and excellence Experience driving and implementing change, leading through collaboration and influence Excellent written and verbal communication, along with superior presentation skills Effective and positive management style supporting staff through example, coaching and development Able to work effectively across organizational lines and promote an effective team-based environment with employees and management at all levels of the organization Nice to Haves: Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Slides) Working knowledge of US GAAP-to-IFRS differences Experience in public accounting In the market for… Excitement - Explore emerging technology and innovation, as well as ventures and digital finance that shape the future of global markets!
