Glen Orchard Community Church (GOCC) is seeking a full-time pastor to lead the ministry of this newly re-established church in Muskoka, in conjunction with its board and congregation. While GOCC is currently independent, we will likely choose to align with a denomination or church for spiritual oversight and leadership support. As such, GOCC is currently in discussions to partner with The Alliance Canada denomination with the intent to become one of its local churches. www.thealliancecanada.ca Job Title: Lead Pastor Location: Port Carling (Muskoka), Ontario Organization: Glen Orchard Community Church Inc. (“GOCC”) ABOUT US Glen Orchard is a newly established Christian community dedicated to spreading the message of Jesus throughout Muskoka. Our family-oriented congregation, although initially small in number, is vibrant and committed to growing spiritually and reaching out to the local communities. We seek to create a safe space for families and individuals to learn about and practice the way of Jesus. As we embark on this journey, we are seeking a dedicated and passionate Lead Pastor to guide and nurture our ministry. During the past year, we have taken possession of a church and property, and have recently received charitable status through the CRA. JOB DESCRIPTION Position Overview: As the Lead Pastor of GOCC, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the spiritual direction of our community. You will provide pastoral leadership, vision, and guidance to our congregation, fostering a culture of growing the Kingdom (with compassion, outreach, discipleship and spiritual growth.) The ideal candidate would have strong interpersonal skills. Responsibilities: Spiritual Leadership: Lead and oversee all aspects of the church’s spiritual life, including organizing and coordinating the various ministries and pastoral care. Community Engagement: Build and maintain relationships within the congregation and the local community, fostering a sense of belonging and outreach. Discipleship and Ministry Development: Equip and empower members for ministry through discipleship, leadership training, and mentoring. GOCC looks to have programs which could include Sunday School, Alpha, AWANA, DVBS (summer), small groups, Women/Men groups etc. Ministry Development: GOCC values (apprenticeship) to Jesus and equipping the body of the Church for a life of spiritual formation and discipleship. GOCC looks to have programs such as Sunday School, Alpha, AWANA, DVBS (summer), small groups, Women/Men groups etc. The Lead Paster would engage congregants in these activities, and develop volunteers through leadership training, and mentorship. Worship Leadership: Plan and co-ordinate worship services that are engaging, uplifting, and centered on biblical truth. Worship may initially be streamed or downloaded and shown on an overhead screen. Pastoral Care: Provide compassionate care and support to individuals and families in times of need, including (hospital) visitation and prayer. Administration and Oversight: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the church, including budgeting, volunteer management, and strategic planning in concert with the board. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with church leaders and volunteers to achieve our goals and objectives. Personal Growth: Continuously seek personal and professional growth through prayer, study, and participation in relevant conferences and workshops. Exemplary Conduct: Serve as a role model of Christian faith and integrity, upholding biblical principles in all areas of life. Qualifications: Ordained Minister: Possess or seek ordination or licensing as a Christian minister, with a deep commitment to the Christian faith and core doctrines. Pastoral Experience: Have a proven track record of effective pastoral ministry, preferably in a church or ministry setting. Preaching and Teaching Skills: The capacity to communicate biblical truths in a relevant and engaging manner is very important. Relational Skills: The Lead Pastor enjoys meeting and engaging with people, exhibits excellent interpersonal and relational skills, is emotionally intelligent and has the ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds Visionary Leadership: Possess leadership qualities, with the ability to develop with the board and implement a compelling vision for the church. Team Player: Be a collaborative leader who can work effectively with staff, leaders, and volunteers to achieve common goals. Integrity: Demonstrate a high level of integrity, honesty, and ethical conduct in all interactions and decision-making processes. Adaptability: Be flexible and adaptable in responding to the changing needs and dynamics of a start-up church environment. Education: Hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, with theological education or training preferred. Other: Currently a citizen or resident of Canada.
