We are currently looking for a Specialist, Commodity Risk Management to support our client in their Calgary AB location. In this role you will work full time hours on a 2 month assignment working primarily remote.Located in the Calgary office, the individual in the Specialist, Commodity Risk Management role will report to the Manager, Commodity Risk Management. The successful candidate will lead initiatives, coach junior team members, and manage projects or processes that support the daily management of commodity risk management activities. This position involves a combination of analytical, operational and strategic responsibilities, contributing to the overall effectiveness of a dedicated Middle Office function and marketing and hedging activities. Advantages• Work for a top-tier professional organization • Earn a competitive wage • primarily remote (however they may be required to work onsite at one of our offices, to meet the internal client or team needs.)• Work full-time business hours• 2 month contract with possibility of extensionResponsibilities• Maintain and enforce Trading and Risk Management Policy, ensuring adherence across the business with commodities trading and marketing activities. • Monitor model performance tests and assess the appropriateness of models to demonstrate policy adherence. • Review exposure calculations and analysis and be able to communicate the results clearly, including to senior management, in a way which adds significant value to business decisions. • Advise upon, and contribute to, ongoing model development and improvement for valuation and risk measurement, carrying out reviews and validation of exposure models for a constantly evolving and increasingly sophisticated set of products and markets. • Directly contribute to the design, construction, and implementation of Risk models such as Earnings at Risk, CVA/DVA, Sensitive Analysis and Stress Testing to help us on our journey of continually improving our risk modelling capabilities and provide valuable analysis and insights to the business. • Provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship to junior team members, fostering their professional development and enhancing their analytical and technical skills. • Contribute to hedging strategies by conducting in-depth analysis of market trends, pricing dynamics and risk exposures. Propose adjustments and optimizations based on findings. • Work with IT and other stakeholders to optimize ETRM system, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of the risk management function. • Lead system enhancements and upgrades as necessary.QualificationsEducation/Work Experience • A financial professional with a degree in Finance, Economics, or Mathematics. • Designation required: CPA/CFA/FRM/ERP • Minimum of 10+ years related experience in commodity trading, risk management, or related fields, with a demonstrated track record of leadership and innovation. • Proficiency in ETRM systems and software tools, preference for Openlink Endur. Technical Skills/Other Skill • Advanced user of Excel; beneficial to be proficient with PowerBI, SQL, python and/or VBA. • Proficiency in risk management principles and techniques, with experience in commodities markets. • Ability to communicate complex issues in a clear, understandable manner with the marketing team, originators, asset developers, finance, Risk and other teams. • The ability to objectively and constructively challenge proposals for new modelling and transactions, whilst maintaining good working relationships. • Experience coaching, mentoring, and developing junior team members, with a focus on fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. • Proven ability to manage projects or processes with limited oversight, delivering successful outcomes on time and within budget. • High attention to detail in both numerical analysis & written work and ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines in a trading-related Risk environment. • In-depth knowledge of commodities markets, financial instruments, derivatives, and hedging strategies. • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills with the ability to interact across different levels of the organization.SummaryIf you are interested in the Specialist, Commodity Risk Management position in Calgary, apply online today!Randstad Canada is committed to fostering a workforce reflective of all peoples of Canada.
