Job Description

Reporting to the Manager - HR Programs, the incumbent in this role is responsible for coordinating and facilitating a skill-based pay program for the production operations function of an electrical equipment manufacturing company, S&C Electric Canada. Essential duties include evaluating skill demonstration checklists, training new team members on program structure, and maintaining records and databases. The role also liaises between various stakeholders to ensure smooth program execution.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Skill Evaluation: Conduct skill evaluations by holding on-the-job assessments to complete the certification checklists. The evaluation process aims to ensure that team members are adequately trained and competent in their roles within the production operations unit.
  • Program Assurance: Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and productivity guidelines and that team members adhere to company and broader industry standards.
  • Training Support: Assist team members in navigating the internal application to support the training program. Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop effective technical training programs. Contribute to developing new training programs and maintain updated documentation and records. Deliver training on the program as necessary to team members and supervisors.
  • Program Maintenance: Update the program website with the latest information. Maintain records supporting program execution. Communicate changes and updates to various stakeholders at all levels as necessary. Explore automation options to enhance program efficiency and assist in working with the software maintenance team for feature enhancements.
  • Documentation and Record Keeping: Complete document revisions, including standard work, work elements documentation, skill certification records, etc. Organize structured e-folders to facilitate easy access and compliance with evaluation requirements to ensure database integrity.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, human resources, or a similar academic background.
  • 2+ years of experience in the manufacturing sector, Human Resources, Manufacturing/ Technical training, skilled trades recruitment, or similar operational functions.
  • Broad knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, industry trends, and best practices related to manufacturing skills programs and process improvement experience.
  • Sound communication skills (written, verbal, listening, and presentation), confidence in liaising with internal stakeholders, clear articulation of skill-based program standards, and guidance of team members through the skill certification process.
  • Rounded interpersonal skills to build relationships, establish trust, collaborate cross-functionally with diverse audiences, and demonstrate behaviors that align with S&C’s guiding principles.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills to adapt quickly to changes and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Detail-oriented to ensure that all necessary paperwork and documents are completed accurately.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office, including data analysis tools such as Excel and Power BI.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to schedule work outside traditional professional hours to evaluate skills and certify team members on afternoon and weekend shifts.
  • Ability to travel to the USA for training, meetings, and other business purposes.

Normal or frequent minor physical effort required for the day-to-day activity in the workplace. May involve standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs and lifting/moving/using objects or equipment up to 5kg/11lbs
