The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support and data analysis on mining equipment of Finning to assist in the equipment management process. Primary focus will be on proactive diagnostic management along with managing Mining Machine product reliability and performance. The objective is to improve customer satisfaction by working with the customer’s reliability and maintenance personnel, Finning’s branch operations, Mining Equipment Management team, and Caterpillar (District and Product Groups).The Reliability Engineer is the technical support resource, with key responsibilities in supporting and monitoring the preventive maintenance program. We are dedicated to fostering an inclusive and equitable work environment, and this salary range is designed to support that commitment.Job Description:Investigation of and reporting on equipment failures including field research and data collection within Finning and CaterpillarAnalyze components' performance: life, durability/reliability, historyManage and track all service letters and updates for equipment on siteAnalyze and report equipment performance in terms of availability and other specific KPIsProvide technical support to drive improvement projectsIdentify, report, and support investigation and root cause analysis on equipment failures including field research and data collectionPeriodical (monthly, quarterly, or as required) fleet reports on various technical and operational indicatorsMining equipment condition monitoring: downloading and analyzing electronic information, contamination control/fluid analysisData collection and reporting on component performanceMonitoring and developing trend information on payload management practicesSupport and drive process improvementTechnical support for maintenance personnel and technical problem solutions as neededCoordination and support for Caterpillar requests, test equipment, and product improvement initiativesManagement of Caterpillar technical information and product improvement informationAbility to manage multiple priorities to effectively manage risk to the businessStrong team working abilities to develop effective collaboration with peers and consistency across all sitesQualifications:Post-secondary Education in Mechanical, Mining or Material EngineeringProfessional registration and/or membership in committees and/or technical societiesMinimum 3-5 years’ experience in an industrial environment such as mining, is desiredAbility to manage multiple priorities to effectively manage risk to the businessDemonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written, presentation) in order to effectively develop relationships with internal and external customersStrong team working abilities to develop effective collaboration with peers and consistency across all sitesAccuracy in work and strong attention to detailsTime management, prioritization, and independent problem-solving skillsExperience with CAT mining equipment, including Large Mining Machine, would be an assetExperience on CAT instruments: SIS2.0, Dealer Connect, TMIWEB, ET and VIMS will be an assetUnderstand equipment design, engineering drawings, design standards and specificationsMechanical aptitudes, including understanding of Mining Machine components (diesel engines, hydraulic systems, powertrain, pumps, cylinders, structures etc.)Understanding on condition monitoring including SOSProficiency in MS Office packagesKnowledge of manufacturing/fabrication methodologiesNote:Temporary, full-time position for 6 monthsMonday - Friday, 5x2 scheduleThis position is located at our Finning Kamloops office locationAt Finning, we prioritize creating a diverse and inclusive environment.
