Volunteer Opportunity Details Volunteer Opportunity ID: 4939 Description of Duties: Mood Disorders Association of Manitoba (MDAM) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing support, education, and advocacy for those living with mental health illnesses through peer support and other services. MDAM operates throughout Manitoba, supporting individuals, their friends, families, and caregivers affected by mood disorders. One of the services we offer is peer support groups facilitated by dedicated volunteers with lived experience of mood disorders or co-occurring disorders. A facilitator plans, guides, and manages an in-person peer support group for MDAM. Skills Required: English language proficiency Lived or working experience with mental health Organizational and leadership skills Excellent interpersonal skills Well-developed listening skills Knowledge of peer support or mental wellness (asset - training will be provided) Skills Gained/Related Careers: Peer Support Mental Health Support Leadership, direction, and mentorship Problem-solving Judgment, situational awareness Age: 18-30, 31-54, 55+ Time Commitment: Evening The volunteer shift for facilitating the Mixed Bipolar in-person peer support group is every Tuesday from 6:30pm-7:30pm. Location of volunteer opportunity: Winnipeg - Downtown Does opportunity require a criminal record check? Yes Will cost be reimbursed? Yes Does opportunity require a child abuse registry check?
