About Our Opportunity The Director of Financial Advisory Services is responsible for providing strategic direction and technical leadership in the development of fiscal management strategy to assist the province in meeting its transportation, infrastructure, and shared services objectives. As the Director of Financial Services, you will provide guidance and direction to a team supporting the Department of Public Works. You will be responsible for budgeting; forecasting; operational accounting; year-end audit requirements; accountability reporting; managing operational budget submissions; overseeing that third party cost sharing arrangements are properly reflected in budgets, forecasted and accounted for; providing leadership and support in the development of departmental policies and programs; overseeing the provision of briefing material; ensuring expenditures are accounted for in adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles for the Public Sector and government policies; and providing advice, recommendations and assistance to senior management, field offices, client departments, agencies and crowns. About You This may be the right opportunity for you if you have a university degree in business, commerce, or public administration and a professional accounting designation (CPA, CGA, CMA, CA). Several years of progressive financial management experience, preferably in a large organization, is also required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. As the successful candidate, you will posses a broad base of experience in budget development, forecasting, and financial accounting reporting. Demonstrated ability in leading and engaging a team is a must. This position requires an aptitude to deal with complex issues, strong analytical skills, tact and diplomacy, capacity for decisive action, and the ability to influence. You are a seasoned leader and excellent communicator with several years of experience engaging a variety of stakeholders. While not required, it is considered an asset if you have knowledge and experience in government financial policies and procedures.
