Under the direct supervision of the Fire Chief, the fire Prevention Officer will be primarily responsible for the delivery of the Community Fire Prevention/Inspection and Education Services. As a Senior Member of our community public safety and response system, the Fire prevention Officer will also contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of related public safety services .
Qualifications/Requirements:
Extensive fire training and knowledge gained through training and experience in Fire Prevention andFire Suppression.
Must have OR willing to be enrolled in a Fire Prevention/Inspection Program
Knowledge of Fire Prevention Practices and Procedures including Fire Safety Inspections, code enforcement and public safety/education programs
Must have or be willing to obtain Basic Emergency Management Training and other related courses
Knowledge of land based Search & Rescue preparedness, operations and planning
Must possess proven management, communications, organizational and interpersonal skills
Proficient computer skills and knowledge of their applications
Proficient in English, both written and oral communications
Minimum of three (3) years experience within fire services, paid/career, or volunteer
Certified in First Aid and CPR
Must have or willing to obtain a valid Ontario Class D/Z Driver’s license
Credentials required: degree/diploma/certificates (please attach proof of the same)
Criminal record check clearance is required prior to hiring
Duration: Permanent with 3-months probation
