Opportunity exists for international travel for work.THE OPPORTUNITY:Our Hazardous Building Material division is seeking an Project Technologist, based in Edmonton, Alberta.WHAT YOUR DAYS WILL CONSIST OF:Complete assessments for asbestos, mold, and other hazardous building materials located in commercial and industrial buildings and facilities;Assess building damages related to floods, water losses, smoke, and fire;Prepare detailed reports, using standard formats, documenting findings, and providing recommendations to address indoor air quality, industrial hygiene and hazardous building materials concerns;Complete compliance inspections for abatement and restoration contractors undertaking asbestos, mold, lead and other hazardous building materials remediation work to document that their work has been completed in accordance with all applicable Provincial/Federal occupational health and safety regulations;Collect and analyze asbestos air samples following NIOSH 7400A Method;Conduct field work involving work from heights, confined spaces, abatement containments and construction sites;Ability to wear a half-face and full-face respirator;Assist the project team to perform hazardous building materials assessments;Calibrate and maintain field sampling equipment;Prepare reports, drawings detailing findings and recommendations; and,Developing field, draft, and final reports for submission to project manager or supervisor for final review and sign off.REQUIREMENTS:Diploma in occupational health and safety or construction, or Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent;Two years plus experience in a related field;Related post-secondary education will be considered an asset;C.E.T. or related designations will be considered an asset;Availability to work outside core business hours, sporadic out of town projects and rotational weekends;Vehicle, valid drivers license, and insurance is required; and,Availability to work and travel as required for project needs.DESIRED SKILLS | IS THIS YOU?Excellent leadership skills, strong analytical and strategic thinking skills;Strong communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills with an ability to follow detailed instructions;Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with clients, general contractors and abatement contractors;Posses strong time management skills;Proficient with Microsoft Office Products;Knowledge of environmental and health and safety legislation and guidelines; and,Coachable and display positive work attitude.Does this sound like you?
