The Analyst, Agricultural Sustainability will report to the Manager, Agricultural and Environmental Sustainability on the Corporate Sustainability and Stakeholder Relations (SSR) team. This person will provide agronomic expertise, research and analytical support for the development and application of emerging global frameworks and other initiatives for agricultural sustainability, including climate, water, and biodiversity, and assessing their context and scope of applicability for Nutrien across its global footprint. What you will do: Provide agronomic expertise to the SSR team in the application of agronomic management practices for climate, water and biodiversity impacts. Develop an understanding of Nutrien’s scope of operations and the opportunities for Nutrien to lead and engage in sustainable agriculture. Develop an understanding of greenhouse gasses GHG and carbon accounting principles and how they are applied in offsets and insets (supply chain projects) in an agricultural context. Develop an understanding of the emerging guidance and frameworks on biodiversity measures and the application for agriculture. Develop and maintain reference information and data sources for agricultural GHG inventory and biodiversity reports including international, country level, and sub national data, reports from leading sustainability organizations, and policy positions. Develop relationships with internal stakeholders to provide teams with technical analysis support, literature reviews, and preparation of presentation and communication materials (e.g., co-ordinate meetings, create supporting materials, agendas, and action items). Working with the Agricultural and Environmental Sustainability team, research and prepare materials on emerging frameworks, programs, and initiatives in sustainable agriculture and the challenges and opportunities across Nutrien’s global footprint. What you will bring: Degree in agricultural science (agronomy, soil science, crop science preferred). 3-5 years experience in agriculture or related field research. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to apply critical thinking to contextualize and assess external information (e.g., sustainability frameworks) based on agronomic expertise and knowledge of agricultural production systems and environmental implications of farm management practices This is an opportunity for new or recent grads with a degree in agriculture and/or related field research experience. Experience with Microsoft Office software. Highly motivated and a willingness to learn in an evolving landscape. A valid passport and Class 5 driver’s license.
