Canadian Business Unit Director (BUD) – Buildings Engineering

Job Description Arcadis is seeking a Business Unit Director (BUD) Buildings Engineering for the Places Business Area in Canada. This position reports to the Business Area Director and is in Canada. Role Accountabilities: As a Business Unit Director, you will be responsible for profitably growing the respective business unit presence in country in line with GBA Places strategy and financial targets. Responsibilities include: Implementing the Places strategy: Lead the business unit with ultimate accountability for P&L performance, service quality delivery within the unit; develop and oversee the implementation of the strategy to ensure service quality delivery, service excellence and profitable growth within the unit, to support the delivery of the line of business objectives. Lead, motivate and develop a diverse team: Recruit, set objectives and review performance to ensure staff are developed, driven and have the necessary skills to deliver the program objectives. Develop and implement the business plan: Ensure the team understands the business plan and the role that they play in its achievement, with a focus on quality, global delivery, integration of GEC, and the provision of context and clarity. Lead identification and targeting of clients: Deliver service excellence to foster growth in organic revenue in the business unit. Build strong relationships and create successful teams: Develop enduring relationships with clients to understand their business needs and ensure client satisfaction to improve retention and deliver organic revenue growth. Coach and mentor discipline managers and service managers: Ensure all projects are set up for success and appropriate governance is adhered to, with the goal of improved client satisfaction. Lead identification of talent: Promote career development by directing identified individuals to appropriate development programs. Lead decisions on resource utilization: Maintain the integrity of the unit composition and pyramid management structure to enable resource optimization. Lead identification and management of risk: Ensure compliance with governance processes in the business unit to achieve service excellence and client satisfaction. Maintain market understanding: Keep an in-depth and up-to-date understanding of the business unit's clients and the market to identify key trends and emerging opportunities. Foster cooperation across Arcadis: Develop relationships throughout Arcadis to maximize opportunities to cross-sell and trade-up. Create a safe working environment: Establish respect among our people to allow them to grow, perform, and succeed, focusing on Health and Wellbeing and identifying talent for career development. Qualifications & Experience: You should be a licensed Professional Engineer or Architect in Canada and have at least 10+ years of experience leading and growing a significant business function within a professional services firm. You will be able to inspire multi-disciplinary teams around a common purpose and demonstrate significant leadership capability. You will have a high level of intellectual, professional, and interpersonal agility and flexibility. You will bring excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate at all levels of the organization, particularly at senior levels. You are an excellent communicator and skilled at building relationships. You have the technical knowledge to recognize and manage risk in running a design-led Business Unit.
