Visit us today and check out www.novascotia.com to see why more people from across the globe are moving here.About the OpportunityReporting to the Eastern Zone Operations Director of Laboratory Services, or designate, the Manager works with the Operations Director and the Eastern Zone Pathology & Laboratory Medicine (PLM) Director/Lab Services Medical Lead, to facilitate the daily administrative and clinical operations of the Department and to ensure the delivery of a high quality, safe Pathology and Laboratory Medicine service.  The Manager is accountable for the effective operation of assigned areas of responsibility. The Manager works in a co-leadership relationship with the Eastern Zone PLM Medical Director/Lab Services Medical Lead for assigned areas/facilities. The Manager exhibits sound professional judgment and initiative while working within the Mission, Vision, Policies, Procedures and Strategic Directives and incorporates into daily practice the Core Competencies and Values of the organization. Nova Scotia Health is committed to patient safety, continued quality improvement and advancing the delivery of safe and trusted health services.About YouWe would love to hear from you if you have the following:Graduate of an approved program in Medical Laboratory Technology, supplemented by additional formal management and/or leadership trainingMaster’s Degree in health related discipline, health administration, business administration or related subject would be considered an assetCurrent registration with the CSMLS and licensure with NSCMLT is requiredAn equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for this positionMinimum five (5) years’ recent relevant supervisory/managerial experienceExperience in a unionized environment would be considered an assetProgressive leadership and/or management experienceExperience and knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, E-mail and laboratory information systems (Meditech) requiredExperience in staff and program development and evaluationExperience in leading changePossess knowledge in healthcare structures, environments and services as they relate to Pathology and Laboratory Medicine servicesAdvanced communication skills (listening, written and oral)Critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skillsKnowledge of field of practice to help inform strategy development and organizational planningWell-developed organizational, networking, negotiation and change management skillsAbility to analyze and interpret statistical data and monitor quality and performance indicators and benchmarksPrevious experience with LEAN workflow analysis and review and previous experience with Failure Mode Effects and Analysis review would be considered an asset Please ensure your resume is up to date and includes all relevant education, experience, training, and certifications.HoursPermanent, Full-Time Position; 75 Hours Bi-weekly Compensation and Incentives$42.94 - $57.05 Hourly Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.  Once You've AppliedThank you for your interest in this position.
