Job Summary: to assist our Controller in preparing all financial activities related to MartinreaRidgetown Division, but not limit to financial statement analysis, month-end activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.Required Education and Experience:Undergraduate Degree in Business, Finance or AccountingHolder CPA designation or in the process of working towards a recognized AccountingDesignation is preferableMinimum 3 years of hands-on experience in a decentralized manufacturing environment withManufacturing Ops Accounting/ Finance, automotive experience is preferableDisplay leadership within a financially driven organizationExcellent organizational, interpersonal and time management skills with the ability to multi-taskAdvanced knowledge of Excel, working knowledge of Word, and PowerPoint.Working knowledge of Bill 198 internal control preferred (SOX knowledge required).Demonstrate focus and drive to achieve targets, budgets, and results through development and maintenance of operational and financial KPI's/ Dashboards.Desire to understand the business, providing accurate and timely information to the Controller, taking the initiative to identify and implement costs saving projects (OPEX) that will assist in improving the overall profitability of the plant.Desire and ability to learn about the business and understand the production process by attending and participating in daily production meetings and regularly walking through the production floor to develop the necessary link between the production processes and the financial statements.Ability to identify potential risk areas and establish prudent financial stewardship and safeguarding of assets.Assist in the financial education, training and development of departmental staff and managers to foster environment based on teamwork and a culture of financial accountability.Clearly communicate weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results including explanation of variances of actual compared to forecast/ budget.Effectively manage and take complete ownership and control of the finance/ accounting department with respect to month-end reporting as well as day-to-day activities.Proven self-starter who requires limited supervision and direction, achieves tasks, and overcomes problems and provides effective direction and development of staff.Embrace the challenge of problem solving and identifying and implementing well thought through practical solutions.Essential Functions:Responsible for the day-to-day accounting function at the facility, including cash and bank, accounts receivable, inventory, capital assets, accounts payable, inter-company transactions and other related accruals.Assist in the preparation of the annual budget for the plant including involving various departmental managers in the development of manpower and controllable spending budgets to encourage accountability and ownership of plant/department performance vs. budget.Work closely with the General Manager and Controller to ensure that all the budgeted changes, cost saving initiatives, and new or lost business awards are correctly captured in the budget.Assist in the management of the annual external audit for the plant by completing the year-end audit kit with all the required supporting reconciliations and documentation, ensuring that no audit adjustments are identified during the audit.Mentor the accounting team ensuring continuous development of staff.Implement and maintain internal controls at the plant to ensure compliance with Bill 198 requirementsProactively provide continuous improvement ideas relating to both financial and production processesProvide all the necessary information to the internal audit department during their audit and immediately address any concerns that are identifiedAssist with the physical inventory counts and inventory valuationMaintain a system of communicating ongoing departmental performance to subordinates on a regular basisEnsure good housekeeping for the department and that all areas responsible are tidy and organized at all timeEnsure self and subordinates follow Company policies on Quality System, Health, Safety & Environment and PPE requirementsContribute to the continuous improvement initiatives on all aspect of the job and to encourage all subordinates to do the sameWorking Environment:Both office setting and production environment90% office, 10% plant floor (PPE required)Flexible hours as requiredBenefits:Working in a great inclusive team environmentMedical, Dental and Extended Health Care insurance coverageGroup Retirement Savings PlanLong term disability coverageLife insurance coverageAccidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance coverageSafety shoes and prescription safety glasses reimbursementSupplier vehicle discountsTuition reimbursement and training opportunities
