To learn more about Good Shepherd, visit our website at Good Shepherd Centres - Faith in People.This opportunity is with our Good Shepherd - HOMES - Community Homes for Opportunity (CHO)/ McGinty House.How You Will Make An ImpactThe successful candidate will extend our mission to on-site HOMES tenants through the provision of mentoring, leadership, supervision and risk-management that is respectful and appropriate to trauma-informed & recovery best practices in a housing first/supportive housing setting. This may include team-building, recruitment, training, scheduling, performance management and community collaboration. The incumbent must be able to provide leadership in a multi-disciplinary team within a challenging and rewarding values-based environment.The Program Manager works as a member of a dynamic team of individuals to assist people in enhancing the dignity and quality of life in the lives of adults in a supportive housing setting. Will manage staff, recruit and address performance related issues. At all times the Program Manager uses all available resources to provide the best service possible, utilizing a commitment to continuous quality improvement while supporting a committed team of professionals to assist tenants in maintaining housing and thriving in their own recovery.This role will be responsible for the provision of program operations that support tenants who have experienced homelessness, trauma, substance use, mental health, oppression and poverty. These vulnerable members of our community are tenants who require the services of the best practices found in the Good Shepherd HOMES program.The Program Manager will demonstrate values-based leadership that reflects the values and culture found in the Good Shepherd HOMES program. The Program Manager will support the development of their team so that they feel supported, empowered, creative and accountable to the standards and best practices found within the HOMES program.You will direct and supervise the activities of the support teams in the provision of support and treatment services to all tenants at Emmaus Place, Transitional Rehabilitation Housing Program (TRHP) and the Forensic Supportive Housing Program.In addition, the Program Manager is responsible for participating in Good Shepherd's Health and Safety programs, procedures, and work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations to minimize risk to clients, staff and others as well as to the property of the Good Shepherd.What You'll Bring To Our TeamThis position requires a post-secondary education in social or health sciences.Minimum of 5 years' progressive experience in mental health, supportive housing, and extensive knowledge of the mental health and addictions system in the Niagara Region. A proven history of community collaboration.Management/supervisory experience and demonstrated skills in developing, mentoring and dealing with performance related issues.The ability to provide ongoing support and risk management to the 24-hour staffed supportive housing program.Provide hospitality in dealings with clients, public, volunteers and partnering agencies.Responsibility in supervising staff in the collection of clinical information and ongoing record-keeping as required by Good Shepherd Non-Profit Homes, funding agencies and applicable legislation.The ability to develop and maintain effective relationships and linkages with mental health and other service providers to ensure continuity and consistency of service to tenants.Experience with formal report documentation is an asset.Experience with working with the Forensic population is an asset.The flexibility to provide on-call responsibilities and rotate on-call to the HOMES program as needed in collaboration with the Director and other HOMES managers.An understanding of the importance of healthy diverse communities and community development approaches.Proficient computer skills in various software platforms is an asset.CPR/First Aid certification.Fluency in a second language is an asset.CPR certification or willingness to be certified is required.Valid Driver's license is required.Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.Committed to anti-racist/anti-oppressive practice and to the mission and values of Good Shepherd.Demonstrated understanding of workplace health and safety practices and understanding of an employer's responsibility under current legislation.What We OfferBe a part of a caring TEAM THAT SUPPORTS OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY.Support for continuing EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT.Staff recognition programs along with access to self-care supports and EMPLOYEE / FAMILY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (EAP).POSITIVE and ENCOURAGING atmosphere.Make a difference and provide HOPE.Extended Health Benefits.Good Shepherd, a ministry of the Hospitaller Order of St. John of God, is an equal opportunity employer operating within an anti-racist and anti-oppression framework.
