Project Manager - Vancouver

Black & McDonald’s Western Utilities team is growing! The Project Manager is located in Vancouver and typically reports directly to the Operations Manager or Division Manager.

The successful candidate will:

1. Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate assigned project(s) from start to finish and in accordance with the estimate, schedule, specifications and budget.
2. Provide leadership for assigned project in regards to cost, schedule, quality, safety, and contract performance.
3. Prepare and submit project estimates and price/negotiate all changes in scope as required.
4. Establish and maintain excellent relationships with all stakeholders.
5. Ensure work is performed in compliance with applicable standards.
6. Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements.
7. Ensure accurate productivity reports are completed weekly.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

10+ years as an Project Manager in the construction industry with a contractor. 10+ years working in the utilities and/or civil industry. Proven experience in estimation, strategic procurement, and negotiation. Experience commissioning, integration and applying QA/QC to projects.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Degree or Diploma in one of the following is considered an asset: Red Seal Journeyman or Electrical Technologist Degree, Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering.

The following certifications/designations are considered an asset: P.Eng. Designation, PMP Designation, Gold Seal Certification, Construction safety certifications.

Experience as a tradesperson in the electrical trade may substitute for education requirements.

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Proficient knowledge and understanding of: Contract management, Construction scheduling, planning, and execution, Blue print reading, Project structural design interpretation, Financial statements – read and comprehend, Established utilities practices, procedures, and techniques, Applicable local and provincial labor codes, Managing / leading union and non-union staff, Business operations processes, Organization and time management.

Proficient user of: MS Office (Word, Excel), Microsoft Project (required), JD Edwards or an Oracle-based ERP system, Bid2Win.

Willing and able to travel in British Columbia. Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License with a clean record required.

The expected salary range for this role is between $110,000 and $130,000. The starting salary will be based on several factors such as the successful candidate’s qualifications, including but not limited to education and experience. Salary is one component of Black & McDonald’s total rewards package.
