About the Position Academic unit: Public Policy and Administration Category of appointment: Preliminary (Tenure-Track) Field of specialization: Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership Rank/Position title: Assistant or Associate Professor Start date: 1 July 2025 Closing date for applications: File review will begin November 30, 2024 The School of Public Policy and Administration at Carleton University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership, effective 1 July 2025. Through research, teaching, supervision, and service to the university, the community, and the profession, the successful candidate will participate in the delivery of the School’s Master of Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership and other graduate programs. Qualifications The position is open to candidates from diverse disciplines; candidates should have earned a PhD by July 1, 2025, or soon thereafter, have an active research agenda related to philanthropy and the charitable/nonprofit sector, and have demonstrated promise of teaching related to this field. Candidates should also have an interest in community engagement, evidence of leadership capabilities, and be prepared to assume a leadership role in the program. A wide range of research and teaching expertise pertaining to philanthropy and the nonprofit sector is valued; research or teaching expertise in areas such as relevant policy and regulatory frameworks, performance and accountability assessment at the organizational and societal levels, and the administration of organizations will be considered an asset. Experience teaching online and executive-style courses will also be considered an asset. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate knowledge of the philanthropic and nonprofit sector in Canada.
