Operations Supervisor

SUMMARY
Reporting to the General Manager, the Operations Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day tasks associated with coordinating all aspects of production, staffing, and scheduling. The Operations Supervisor ensures that all company objectives and environmental standards are met.
EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS
- Proactively promote a safe work environment and ensure that all employees are knowledgeable and diligent in carrying out their duties.
- Attend and actively participate in production and safety meetings.
- Ensure production volumes are met, downtime is limited, and follow up on any problems that may occur.
- Review a detailed inventory position report to plan production priorities and schedules daily.
- Assign work tasks to production staff.
- Assist production, planning and shipping into the inventory management system.
- Mechanical maintenance supervision to all our equipment.
- Provide updates to management on status of work orders and daily production.
- Address employee issues in a fair and consistent manner.
- Provide back up to operations administrator by providing work orders, and labels to manufacturing as needed.
- Conduct spot inventory cycle counts.
- Assist with other duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Technical
- Ability to work closely with other trades and employees.
- Lumber manufacturing or wood preserving experience is desirable.
Supervisory
- Proven experience providing training and direction to staff, motivating and developing staff, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
- Demonstrated competencies in leadership and communication.
- Effective coaching and team-building skills.
Personal
- Attention to detail.
- Problem solving abilities and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to think creatively and solve problems.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Competent with Word and Excel.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS

EDUCATION
- High school graduation
- Post-Secondary in wood products manufacturing is an asset
