THE OPPORTUNITYOur municipal client is seeking a dedicated leader to take charge of the operation, maintenance, and repair of the municipality's water, wastewater, and stormwater systems. This position plays a key role in ensuring services are delivered effectively, safely, and in compliance with all regulatory requirements. As the Utilities Leader, you will manage the daily activities of the Utility Operators while also taking on the responsibilities of Lead Operator, in accordance with licensing and code of practice standards.RESPONSIBILITIESTake a leadership role supervising and coordinate the activities of team members, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.Oversee the operation and maintenance of essential service facilities.Ensure compliance with all federal, provincial, and local regulations.Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures.Respond to emergency situations and coordinate repair efforts.Monitor and manage budgets for operations and maintenance.Prepare and maintain accurate reports and records related to operations, maintenance activities, and regulatory compliance, ensuring daily, weekly, monthly, and year-end reports are completed on time.Testing and sampling of water and wastewater to ensure compliance with provincial standards.Preventative maintenance, repairs and emergency activities on all municipal infrastructure including linear mains/branches, pump stations, and lift stations.Collaborate with other departments and agencies to plan and execute infrastructure projects.Provide technical guidance and support to staff and other municipal departments.Ensure all water, wastewater and storm water locates within the municipal limits are completed according to Utility Safety Partners timelines.Promote and enforce safety protocols and procedures.QUALIFICATIONSDiploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field is considered an asset.Minimum of five years of municipal experience, 2 of which are at the supervisory level.Level 2 Alberta Environment Certification in Water Distribution, Wastewater Collection.Strong knowledge of relevant processes, equipment, and regulations.Ability to respond to emergency situations outside of regular working hours.Proficiency in using computer software for data management and reporting.KEY COMPETENCIESAbility to lead and motivate a team, manage performance, and foster a positive work environment.Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with staff, other departments, and the public.Strong ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks and projects efficiently.In-depth understanding of utility systems, including water and wastewater treatment processes and equipment.Strong analytical skills to identify issues, develop solutions, and implement corrective actions.Commitment to promoting and maintaining a safe working environment.FOR MORE INFORMATION, PLEASE CONTACTJESSE JACOBSON | T: 587.453.4242| E: [email protected] | www.richardsonsearch.ca
