Programs and services – which are delivered at the Centre, in the community, at schools, and in-home – include: medical consultation, assessment, and diagnosis; audiology, autism support; complex care program; occupational therapy; physiotherapy; respite services; social work; speech-language pathology; therapeutic recreation; and family engagement. Grandview Kids is now accepting applications for the position of:Recreation Assistants (6 positions)Causal – Up to 15 hours per weekSalary: $49,296.0000 – $57,661.50 per year, depending upon experienceCommencing September 2024 to March 28, 2025Onsite / In-PersonUnder the general direction of the Clinical Manager, Clinics and Specialized Supports and day to day supervision of the Recreation Therapist, the Recreation Assistant assists in facilitation of recreational programs for clients, ensuring the safety of clients and the integrity of sites used for activities; assists in indirect client care; provides leadership, direction and support to program volunteers; maintains communication with all other staff members; supports departmental/Centre efforts in Quality Improvement Program (QIP) activities; participates in education, orientation and public relations as required; maintains a safe work environment; and performs other duties as assigned. Responsibilities?The Recreation Assistant facilitates high standard of maintenance, cleanliness and attractiveness of the Grandview Children’s Centre by:Assisting in planning, implementation and facilitation of group programs for clientsAssisting with implementation of treatment goals as set by a Recreation TherapistModifying activities to meet needs and abilities of participantsProviding a safe and age appropriate fun atmosphere that fosters the development of leisureAssisting clients with positioning on equipment and assisting parents and therapists in transfers;Observing client activity and recording/reporting as requiredSupporting clients in use materials or supplies, under direction of the Recreation TherapistDistributing materials or supplies to clients, as directed by the Recreation Therapist; Qualifications?Graduate of College Level Recreation program or equivalent degree or college diploma in therapeutic recreation or equivalentR/TRO , R/DIP or CTRS designation is an assetMinimum 3 years’ experience working with children, youth and their families with physical and developmental disabilities, and experience planning and facilitating group recreation programs.Possess a valid driver's license.
