The opportunity:The OHS/WSIB Consultant provides Occupational Health and Safety and Workers' Compensation advisory consulting and paralegal services to corporate clients across Canada in a variety of sectors and industries. This position at KPMG Law LLP allows the candidate to work in a challenging position, accept responsibility, work independently, and work with Canada's leading OHS lawyer, Norm Keith, CRSP. Some travel, court, and administrative tribunal appearances are required.You will gain valuable experience in understanding how OHS and Workers' Compensation legislation, regulations and compliance policies are developed, interpreted and enforced across Canada. You will also have opportunities to work in the overlapping areas of employment, labour, and human rights law and advisory services.About the team:KPMG Law LLP is a national law firm with offices in Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary and Montreal. Since our approach is to be an integrated multidisciplinary firm, our team of lawyers work closely with accountants on client engagements in other tax practice areas.To learn more about KPMG Law LLP visit our website here.What you will doProvide OHS compliance & consulting services to corporate clients across Canada Workers' Compensation claims management, appeal preparation and appeal advocacy Develop and present OHS, Workers' Compensation, and related training courses & seminars Develop and implement OHS and workers' employer compensation management systemsConduct health and safety legislative & regulatory compliance audits and investigationsInvestigate and prepare reports into workplace incidents, work refusals, and reprisal casesPreparing appeals of OHS regulatory orders, work refusals, and reprisal casesConduct OHS/WSIB litigation preparation, witness interviews and report writing for lawyersParticipating in regular client contact, professional services and business developmentWork as a member of the national KPMG team providing excellent client serviceHelp develop new and innovative client OHS and WSIB servicesWhat you bring to the roleAn applicable college/university-level diploma/degreeCurrent CRSP and/or Certified Health and Safety ConsultantCurrent member of the Canadian Society of Safety EngineeringRegistered paralegal with the Law Society of Ontario Minimum of five years of related experienceOHS training experience and a passion for prevention and safety trainingExperience with workers' compensation claims management, objections and appealsGood working knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act, regulations and Workplace Safety and Insurance Act and WSIB Operational Policies Excellent analytical, oral and written communication and report writing skillsEntrepreneurial flair and business development skillsMust be eligible to work in CanadaWillingness to travel throughout Canada and has valid driver's licenseBilingual in English and French (written and oral) preferredKeys to your success:KPMG individuals Deliver Impact | Seek Growth | Inspire Trust and understand that a diverse workforce enables us to deepen relationships and strengthen our business.Providing you with the support you need to be at your bestFor more information about KPMG in Canada's Benefits and well-being, click here.
