We are seeking qualified individuals for the position of VDC (MEP) & Project Coordinator. This position will carry responsibility for creating and maintaining BIM documentation for project design and execution. This position will also support Project Managers and construction staff, in a Coordinator capacity, with specific functions including materials ordering and organizing site logistics.  **Direct construction experience is considered an asset for this role. Individuals with a trades background that are transitioning into a management environment will be considered for this position.**  This position will require intermediate-level use of Autodesk REVIT. Formal training in, or ‘on the job’ experience with, Autodesk REVIT is preferred.  The VDC (MEP) & Project Coordinator will have the following two broad areas of responsibility: 1. VDC design and drawing: the Coordinator will have primary responsibility for the creation, refinement, and publishing of the BIM documentation for MEP design and construction execution:                Design Build and Construction CoordinationUnder direction of project managers, model piping and mechanical room elements in coordination with other disciplines using worksets, system identities, and in consideration of constructability.Maintain REVIT central and working models, and utilize BIM 360/Collaborate to achieve coordination with trades and consultants as needed.Utilize MEP modeling and titlesheet creation best practices, to carry documentation from model origin to titlesheet completion (layout, section, elevation views).  Collaborate directly when necessary with consultants and other trades to create fully coordinated documentation, and be familiar with stages of design evolution (i.e. schematic design, design development, working drawings, final tender/IFC drawings).Create project- and task-specific documentation to support construction staff, with technical assistance of project managers.  Collaborate jointly and directly with other trades to maintain digital documentation. Update cloud-based applications (i.e. Autodesk Construction Cloud) for access by construction staff. Participate in regular project-specific meetings to incorporate and respond to design changes. Update cloud-based applications (i.e. Autodesk Construction Cloud) for access by construction staff. Answer questions about documentation as needed.  2. Material and Equipment logistics: the Coordinator will contribute to efficient project management by having primary responsibility for ordering, shipment, and tracking of project equipment and materials. This will include:Create material take-offs from REVIT models where applicable.Assisting in assembling and executing project equipment and material lists, via participation in weekly project- specific meetings.Communicating delivery timelines to suppliers and site personnel.Preparing of shop drawings in coordination with suppliers and project managers.Tracking shipments for multiple projects simultaneously and under short notice as needed. Process heavy paperwork loads efficiently where needed.Overseeing weekly assembly of materials for shipment, and oversee shop organization. The successful candidate for this position will: Possess direct construction experience with MEP mechanical and underground piping and equipment layout and installation, or: Have experience with BIM documentation in a construction-execution environment, not simply a design environment. Possess direct construction experience with material procurement and shipping to maintain efficient work on site. Have excellent computer and interpersonal communication skills, as well as organizational ability, are the main skill sets to be employed. The promotion of expectations amongst construction staff is also a very key part of this position.Possess computer and interpersonal communication skills, as well as organizational ability.Experience with BIM documentation in a construction-execution environment, not simply a design environment.Working competence with all aspects of REVIT, including:Cloud-base coordination (i.e. BIM 360/Collaborate)Maintain and update project templates in all aspects, including worksets.Create and modify MEP equipment families.Use 3rd party plug-ins where applicable to enhance model accuracy and prepare for MEP material takeoffs.Model and coordinate architectural components as needed to facilitate mechanical equipment installation.Periodically use Trimble surveys as inputs to BIM model, and provide outputs to surveyor in AutoCAD format as needed. Able to ‘troubleshoot’ and work around known modelling program ‘glitches’ or malfunctions. Work in AutoCAD MEP when needed to generate details or schematics. Documentation workflow: carry documentation from model origin to titlesheet completion (layout, section, elevation views). Demonstrate a positive attitude toward inevitable shipment difficulties.Please reference job # 24-L-1.
