Select how often (in days) to receive an alert: Position Overview The incumbent provides efficient secretarial support to three Geographical Full-Time physicians (GFTs) within the Section of Gastroenterology, Department of Internal Medicine. Establishes and maintains effective and efficient office systems and assists other secretarial staff in the section of Gastroenterology as required. Types a variety of correspondence including grants, manuscripts and abstracts. Records and transcribes minutes as required. Experience Two years related experience is required.Experience transcribing and distributing minutes required.Experience working in a University environment with knowledge of University policies and procedures in reference to grants and external funding agencies considered a strong asset. Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate) Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required.Successful completion of a recognized secretarial training program required.A combination of education and experience may be considered. Qualifications and Skills Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.Typing 50 wpm, electronic calendar management, proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook) required.Knowledge of medical terminology (pass mark 75%) required.Navigating the Internet, as well as familiarity with various granting and funding agency websites and processes is required.Excellent English communication skills, both oral and written, required.Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited guidance and supervision.The ability to work with all levels of staff in a team environment required. Physical Requirements Must be able to meet deadlines and work effectively with frequent interruptions.Walking to various departments/clinics in the hospital, as well as to various University of Manitoba Bannatyne Campus offices.We have a unique ability to work together to make health care better.
