Due to exponential growth, IEM Canada in Surrey, BC has an opportunity for an organized, motivated Technical Documentation Specialist to join our innovative, employee-oriented company offering a competitive salary with excellent benefits.PURPOSE OF THE JOBThis new, full-time position, reports to the Director of Product Engineering and is responsible for managing, generating, and publishing all technical documentation generated by the department. The wide variety of tasks offers a challenging and rewarding work environment with opportunities to both contribute to the big picture and “be in the weeds”. Problem-solving and multi-tasking are essential skills to be successful. This growth position is best served by a competent, organized, and self-motivated individual who thrives on collaboration and wants to make an impact.Please note this position is 100% in office, no remote work.JOB DUTIESPublish all technical documentation (content provided by others) generated by the department in a professional, organized, and timely mannerDefine and maintain design standards, style guides, and document templatesEdit, format, and lay out draft documents to comply with design standardsGenerate charts, tables, diagrams, images, etc. as necessary to enhance document clarity and appearanceIntroduce and implement professional publishing software, if necessaryAssist in establishing a document storage, naming, and revision control systemCollaborate and interface with various personnel to collect raw content and consolidate into a single document using established templatesFacilitate inter-departmental document review and sign-off prior to publishingProvide insights, summaries, and flags regarding project status and risk or blockersTrack, analyze, and report data and statistics of requests for edits, revisions, etcInterface with Product Managers/Owners and Project Managers to integrate documentation control into a PLM systemPerform other duties as assigned that lead to the optimization of Department documentationRequirements:Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Technical Writer, Graphic Designer, Documentation Specialist, Publisher, or similar roleMinimum of 2 years of post-secondary education, preferably in Graphic Design or a related fieldExcellent proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, especially Word and ExcelHighly effective in written and verbal communicationStrong organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to multitask and adapt to changing priorities
