This is an exciting opportunity to take part in building a new rare disease franchise within Pendopharm. The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based role responsible for establishing Pendopharm’s presence with national KOLs and academic institutions in select therapeutic areas. The MSL shall act as a scientific expert and liaison between Pendopharm and the medical community through the dissemination and education of scientific data and material. The MSL will cover Ontario and Western provinces and will be preferably based in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Key Responsibilities: Support the development and execution of the medical strategy and tactical plans, including congress activities, advisory boards, medical education opportunities, medical information, scientific training, and speaker development. Identify key opinion leaders (KOLs) and key organizations (e.g., professional associations, patient advocacy groups) for the relevant disease, and execute on the engagement plans to foster collaborative relationships. Develop speakers and advocates among Thought Leaders. Capture external insights about the disease state, clinical practice, and competitors and communicate to internal stakeholders in a timely and effective manner. Create awareness of the product in the scientific community and communicate its potential to KOLs and HCPs to transform clinical practice. Plan and deliver medical/scientific presentations to both internal and external stakeholders, provide scientific support at medical congresses, and facilitate scientific exchange at the medical affairs booth and during internal or external meetings. Build strong relationships with internal cross-functional teams and external collaborators by providing medical expertise and support to ensure successful new product launch(es). Provide scientific/strategic support for post-marketing studies (phase IV, registries, etc.), as needed. Engage with external researchers as a primary contact with interest in investigator-initiated trials (IITs), as needed. Stay abreast of all clinical data pertaining to the product(s), the competitive landscape, new therapies, clinical trends & guidelines to promptly identify opportunities and threats and potential impact on product(s). Qualifications: Advanced scientific or clinical degree (MD, PhD, PharmD, etc.). 3+ years of relevant industry experience (Medical Affairs, MSL). Demonstrated experience in building relationships with KOLs, HCPs, and patient advocacy groups. Therapeutic area experience: Endocrinology is an asset. Experience in Rare Diseases is an asset. Territory coverage: Ontario and Western provinces. Ability to travel =50% of the time; travel will be primarily domestic. Strong HCP focus and patient-centric attitude. Excellent communication skills: interpersonal, networking, verbal, written, and presentation. Strategic, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with cross-functional responsibilities.
