AtkinsRéalis is dedicated to engineering a better future for our planet and its people.The department of Safety Engineering at AtkinsRéalis/CANDU Energy is engaged in the deterministic and probabilistic fire assessments in support of new CANDU Nuclear Power Plants as well as supporting the operation and safety of the existing domestic and international CANDU plants. The senior fire safety analyst will work together with other senior and junior staff to develop and apply advanced analysis methodologies to address client/project concerns regarding safety and licensing for plant support, refurbishment, and new build. These include issues related to fire hazard assessment (FHA), fire probabilistic safety assessment (PSA), fire safe shutdown analysis (FSSA), or fire code compliance review (CCR).Location – Mississauga, ONYour role within the team:Work within the nuclear sector or energy facilities.Lead multiple engineering projects from inception through to delivery in support of fire safety standards and codes.Support the delivery of project work within time and cost budgets.Keep up to date with regulations and legislation.Develop fire engineering solutions on projects and ensure the fire engineering strategy is delivered.Assess fire-related risks in projects and work collaboratively to mitigate where possible.Review fire protection design for code compliance review as per applicable codes and standards.Undertake tenders for new work.Prepare proposals, take part in analysis and design team meetings, and liaise with client representatives as required.Full commitment to working in a formal QA environment.Why choose AtkinsRéalis as an employer?The opportunity to work on various major projects for internal and external clients.An exciting environment where work-life balance is important.A wide array of learning and development opportunities.Competitive pay, flexible benefits, an employee share plan, and a defined contribution pension plan.A work environment focused on health and safety.The ideal candidate:Engineering degree, preferably fire engineering or alternatively a postgraduate qualification in fire engineering with a minimum of 7 years of experience. A plus would be CFPS certification of the NFPA.Demonstrate a strong record of successfully delivering fire safety projects – experience in the nuclear sector is strongly considered. Experience in team leading is a plus.Strong experience working with a range of building codes and fire standards including but not limited to NBCC, NFCC, CSA N293, CSA N393, NFPA 101, NFPA 72, NFPA 10, NFPA 13, NFPA 25, and NFPA 80.Being customer and end user centric and cultivating that philosophy in our team.Deliver technical presentations accurately and effectively.Manage assigned work effectively, including prioritizing, executing, managing schedule and budget, and reporting, to meet project goals.Professional Engineering license or able to work towards professionalism status.A flexible approach to the working environment.Willingness to travel will be a positive advantage.Strong fire modeling experience using CFAST. Knowledge of fire modeling using FDS will be beneficial.Ability to collate information and have a clear and structured approach to report writing.Demonstrate good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team including other engineering disciplines and technologists.Strong problem-solving skills are essential.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Above average initiative, drive, and resourcefulness.Are you up for this challenge?
