Job Summary The Test Design Engineer will be a member of a team responsible for the development and automation of electrical and optical functional tests for new and existing ADTRAN products. Duties and Responsibilities Develop test concepts, including special test instruments as needed to support new product interface and testing requirements. Develop or assist in the development of advanced software applications to automate production testing. Test sequences will be developed in Test Stand and Python. Generate and document test procedures, work instructions and logistics concepts, and present options for test coverage and test efficiency. Design or assist in the design of custom test hardware. Support debugging of early production units. Should have the ability to isolate product failures to the circuit and component level, and to generate a debug guide to assist production test operators. Other projects and assignments may result and be assigned to accommodate the changing needs of the department and the Company. QualificationsBasic QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Information Science) required. 3-5 years of professional engineering experience is requiredPrior experience should demonstrate specialized knowledge within the Engineering field and ability to lead projects.Test Stand and Python programming experience, standard debugging methodologies, basic hardware design, software version control tools, communications test development tools (knowledge of Viavi, Keysight, EXFO SCPI commands) terminal emulation packages, network monitoring software), experience required. Must be able to travel internationally 5-10%.Preferred Qualifications (Optional)Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Information Science) preferred.Knowledge in basic communications technologies (Ethernet, TCP/IP, SNMP, ATM, switches, routers) and in telecommunications standards and agreements (IEEE 802.3x, OIF, MSA) is preferred.
