Legal Counsel, Commercial OperationsCalgary, Alberta, CanadaKorn Ferry has been retained by our client, a major player in the Oil & Gas industry, in a search for a Legal Counsel, Commercial Operations for its team in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. This position reports to the Manager, Legal – Commercial Operations.Primary responsibilities:Provide prompt and effective legal and commercial advice and support through all phases of the contracting cycle, primarily, but not limited to, within the Supply Management and Marketing groups.Provide legal advice and support as needed on commercial contracts required by internal business support groups, touching on areas of law including but not limited to Privacy, ESG Compliance, Intellectual Property, Technology and Innovation, Confidentiality and corporate guarantees.Identify risk and liability issues related to various commercial and construction matters and provide advice on risk mitigation strategies.Provide legal advice and support for the resolution of commercial disputes.Liaise with internal business units for delivery of commercially relevant legal advice.Develop and implement business-oriented legal strategies to deal with client concerns.Assist in drafting and revising contract templates, policies and procedures.Provide legal support to the Company’s marketing business unit and assist in negotiating a range of specialized and non-specialized legal agreements.Provide legal advice and support for commercial and regulatory matters arising from product marketing and transportation activities.Requirements:Required: Bachelor of Laws of Judicial Doctorate from an accredited educational institution.Required: Be an active member or otherwise eligible for admission to the Law Society of Alberta.Required: 5+ years of related legal experience.Preferred: Proven experience in corporate/commercial transactions, supply chain, construction, or oil & gas marketing.Preferred: Additional experience in Intellectual Property and Confidentiality law.Proven ability of a strong work ethic with exceptional interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.Required: Proven ability to work independently in an ever-changing, challenging team environment to meet deadlines without sacrificing quality of service.Korn Ferry shall provide equal employment opportunity to all qualified candidates, and will refer candidates without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, veteran status or any other legally protected basis. #J-18808-Ljbffr
