Certified Group includes Food Safety Net Services (FSNS), Certified Laboratories, EAS Consulting Group, Labstat International Inc., Advanced Botanical Consulting & Testing (ABC Testing Inc.), Microconsult Inc., and Micro Quality Labs Inc. Certified Group provides laboratory testing and regulatory consulting services in the food & beverage, dietary supplements & NHP, cosmetics, OTC, tobacco, nicotine, cannabis, hemp, and other industries. We are currently looking for a Vice President of Operations to join our Labstat Division! As a result of our continuing growth, Labstat has the following employment opportunity available: Provide leadership and support to the day-to-day operations to a dispersed geographic multi-site business unit while being responsible for harmonizing all aspects of the group’s laboratories, including but not limited to the quality, science, technical, and operations. Provide guidance and development for employees to ensure development and succession in the business to build talent and maintain experience within the group’s laboratories. Responsible for long range planning and the implementation of strategies for developing and expanding the business in partnership with commercial and executive leadership. Ensure that services delivered follow the company's quality and technical requirements; in addition to complying with customer and regulatory requirements for quality, safety, and reliability, ensuring the client’s needs are met in a cost-effective manner by planning and managing the budget. The Vice President, Operations assumes the role of Test Facility Management and is responsible for ensuring that the facility operates in compliance with GLP Principles (where required). This responsibility includes the appointment and effective organization of an adequate number of appropriately qualified and experienced staff throughout the facility, including Study Directors and, in the event of multi-site studies, Principal Investigator(s), if needed. Primary responsibilities of the job: Establish, implement, and communicate the strategic direction of the business unit’s operations division aligned with the company’s strategic vision and direction Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and meet company goals and objectives while supplying expertise and guidance on operations projects and systems Partner across the organization with all functions, operations and departments to carry out the company’s goals and objectives Develop and implement strategic business initiatives with the objective of consistently producing accurate test results, maintaining high levels of service and delivery to facilitate business growth Implement and manage critical operational KPIs focused on safety, quality, delivery, productivity, people and cost Maintain a focus on providing efficient workflows and processes to optimize service levels, improve quality and safety, and maximize resources in accordance with Lean principles and standards Ensure that client needs are met in a cost-effective manner through effective utilization of resources, capital and managing to the budget to optimize service delivery Ensure consistency in quality and compliance with internal, industry and customer quality policies and standards Promote and support safety policies and procedures across all locations to drive a proactive safety culture limiting, minimizing and eliminating all types of safety incidents Participate in large or strategic project proposals with the executive and/or the commercial organization to support profitability and client satisfaction Responsible for overall laboratory operations with attention to consistent implementation of policies, procedures, and best business practices for all locations and employees Ensure the attainment of company objectives through the selection, development, motivation, and evaluation of laboratory management and staff to optimize people engagement Identify training needs and ensure proper training is developed and provided while assessing, ensuring and documenting the performance competencies of trained staff at all times Minimum Qualifications: B.Sc. from recognized educational institutes (Science discipline) MBA, Business courses/business degree beneficial 10+ years of operations experience at the senior management level with a proven track record of success Five or more years of experience working with or within the food and beverage, environmental, clinical, supplements, or pharmaceutical laboratory industry Professional business sense and strategic planning What we Offer: Competitive wages Benefits RRSP Matching TFSA’s Training Programs Social events Labstat values a diverse workforce.
