About The Role
The Strategic Development Director, North America directs and oversees Business Unit M&A; Gatekeeps and prioritizes BU-wide initiatives; and develops and leads the Continuous Improvement Program.
The successful candidate will be a member of the Leadership Team of Business Unit North America, aligning project priorities with the LT & relevant functional leads to ensure seamless program and project implementation until completion.
Responsibilities:
Mergers & Acquisitions• In collaboration with the global M&A group, lead the BU’s M&A efforts, including pipeline development, opportunity assessment, execution, due diligence, and integration planning and execution.
Strategic projects management:• Lead and manage Strategic projects from initiation to completion, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.• Develop and maintain project plans, timelines and budgets.
Continuous Improvement Program• Develop and stand-up a continuous improvement program for the BU.• Develop and leverage existing capabilities on process improvement processes (e.g. Kaizen, process mapping, automation).• Collaborate with other teams to develop improvement priorities and projects, and ensure their execution and associated change management.• Monitor and evaluate the impact of process changes and make necessary adjustments.
Initiative Gatekeeper• Develop a decision framework for the prioritization of key initiatives.• Identify, prioritize, and manage key initiatives that support the company’s strategic objectives in close partnership with the LT and functional leads.• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure initiatives are aligned with business goals.• Monitor progress and provide visibility to senior management.
Knowledge management:• Ensure information and best practices learned during the project are documented and stored for future use.• Facilitate the dissemination of knowledge among project teams and stakeholders to enhance collaboration and efficiency.
Stakeholder management:• Build and nurture strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.• Communicate project status, risks, and issues to stakeholders in a clear and timely manner.• Facilitate meetings and workshops to gather input and feedback.
Risk Management:• Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Skills and ExpertiseQualifications:• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Process Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.• Strong preference for formal Continuous Improvement training (e.g. Six Sigma).• At least 10 years’ experience with proven track record in leading strategic projects including M&A.• Advanced analytical capability (including financial models) with strong proficiency in digital tools.• Strong business acumen and commercial understanding.• Keen interest and ability to leverage digital tools and technologies.• Excellent organizational skills and expertise in change management.• Ability to influence and deliver results without hierarchical authority.• Strong project team and stakeholder engagement skills.• Exceptional communication and networking to effectively collaborate with the regional and global teams.
