The Opportunity:
At WSP, we're continuing to grow and develop our expertise in Earth and Environment, operating as a trusted advisor and technical expert for engineering and environmental projects for our clients across multiple industries. Our team is growing, and as a result we're adding a Senior Geochemist to our group. As part of the team in Prairies and North, you'll be responsible for driving forward our ambitious plans to enhance our Earth and Environment service offering in the province or territory through your work with a close-knit team of engineering specialists, professionals, and technical staff.

A day in the life:
You’ll be the technical lead for geochemistry projects, specifically in oil sands and mining environments
You’ll have direct client interactions and will be involved in proposal writing and business development
You’ll conduct geochemical characterization studies, radiological assessments, and other environmental investigations
You’ll work on data interpretation and conceptual model development
You’ll write or oversee the preparation of reports and will prepare presentations
You’ll mentor junior staff
You’ll demonstrate a “Safety First” focus and acting as a role model to other staff
We'd love to hear from you if you have ...
A university degree in Geochemistry (preferably MSc or PhD) with a focus on geology, environmental science, geological engineering or related field
5 to 10 years applied work experience
Strong understanding of chemistry and geology. Experience with oil sands geochemistry, hydrogeology and hydrology is an asset
Familiarity with industry-standard modeling software such as PHREEQC, Geochemist’s Workbench and GoldSim is an asset.
Strong data manipulation ability including experience with data management tools (i.e. Excel, EQuIS, Access)
Strong written and verbal communications skills
