The Opportunity This position works out of our Ottawa, Ontario location in the Point of Care, Diagnostics division. Our Point of Care diagnostic portfolio spans key health and therapeutic areas, including infectious disease, cardiometabolic, informatics, and toxicology. The Associate Wafer and Component Print Engineer will participate on a team that executes projects that pursue strategic elements of APOC’s business interests. These projects may relate to yield improvement, equipment procurement, cost reduction, process optimization, quality compliance, etc. The successful candidate will thrive on working in an environment that drives many diverse projects at the same time. They will be able to use their creative problem-solving skills to help the team arrive at unique solutions to critical problems and then implement to a tight timeline. What You’ll Do Create and execute efficient experimental strategies using DOE methods to identify potential process improvements. Assist in developing strategies to resolve process and/or product problems. Implement process/equipment changes as per APOC’s Design Control Process. Train to and apply Quality Systems requirements and procedures. Attend cross-functional team meetings to share information. Assist in planning and executing process characterizations, validations, and verifications. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical or Chemical preferred) or Science. 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills a must. Ability to work to tight timelines and accommodate changing priorities. Excellent data gathering and dissemination skills, via report writing, presentation skills, and conversations with peers is a must. Demonstrated initiative, good judgment, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Ability to design experiments, analyze and interpret data, and document conclusions. Analytical skills, creativity, and innovative approach to problem solving. Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary team members and work without supervision. Willingness to work in labs, manufacturing areas, and office environments. Very strong investigational skills, drive to understand and solve problems. Propensity for continuous learning and experimentation. Effective at dealing with a variety of people and understanding/communicating their requirements. Self-directed, proactive, and not easily discouraged. Excellent organizational, planning, and scheduling skills. Good oral/written communication skills. Experience in a wafer manufacturing environment is considered an important asset. Experience working in an ISO and FDA regulated environment is an asset.
