Parts and Components Electrical Engineer

Acara is looking for a Parts and Components Electrical Engineer with our client in Mississauga, ON. Role Description: As a Parts and Components Electrical Engineer, you will apply your electrical and electronic knowledge to design, verify, and validate parts solutions when OEM parts have become obsolete. You will reverse engineer or develop obsolescence solutions, work on system overhaul proposals, and develop technical documentation for suppliers to meet FFF specifications and requirements. You will provide assembly/repair instructions and new design drawings, develop all the required documentation, create or update engineering change orders, and review vendor technical proposals to ensure compliance with specifications and product safety. You will actively participate and contribute to the aggressive growth of the Parts & Components business and support a customer outreach program to proactively generate business opportunities. Responsibilities: Ensure all the parts proposals meet customer specifications in form, fit, and function, railway safety, reliability, and industrial norms. Prepare drawings and documentation of assigned systems and meet deliverable standards. Compose AAR, IEEE, ANSI bills of material, detailed work scope, assembly, and testing instructions for parts, equipment, and printed circuit boards. Redesign and overhaul electrical equipment, printed circuit boards, and generally electrical and electronics parts used in the rail industry. Provide layouts, assembly, and detail drawings. Provide engineering support during the production of the part, specifying and selecting electrical or electronic components to be applied in Rolling Stock Engineering. Collaborate with Project Management, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, Auditors, Platform (Tenders, Reference Library, REX), Quality, Validation, and Testing. What do I need to qualify for this job? Experience in rail industry standards and design or with similar industry products such as transportation vehicles, and/or high-low voltage equipment, and discrete electronic components. Experience in preparing procurement specifications and technical requirements from customer specifications to drive the design of the parts requested. Understanding of engineering design change process, basic design for manufacturing, GD&T, etc. Candidates must be versatile, very autonomous, with hands-on experience, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment in unclear and ill-defined situations, and resourceful in finding information through multiple forms of communication. Minimum Qualifications University or Technical College degree in Railway Engineering, Electronics, Automation Engineering, or Electrical Engineering. 5 years of industry-related experience. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of rolling stock systems and proficiency in MS Office, PDM, SAP, GSI, and Maximo (other ERP tools). Knowledge of Alstom Design for Quality processes. #J-18808-Ljbffr
