The Lower Similkameen Indian Band, located in the heart of the Similkameen Valley of the South Central Interior region of British Columbia is pleased to invite qualified applicants to apply to the permanent, full time Education Assistant position at the Ntamtqen snma?maya?tn School.

The Ntamtqen snma?maya?tn School offers elementary grades (full time kindergarten to grade seven), with a vision of combining tradition with the tactics of modern education in order to provide our children with an encompassing future. We believe the union of Aboriginal tradition and academic excellence can live in one house in harmony for the betterment of all.

The Education Assistant is responsible for providing assistance to the teacher and the students in the development of strategies to achieve academic, behavioural, and social goals on an as and when required basis. Support services will be provided for pupils with special needs who may require direct physical assistance.

Education and Experience

Completion of grade 12 or GED;

Education Assistant Certification;

Recent related experience in working with school age children in a classroom setting;

Experience teaching in multi-graded classrooms an asset;

Level 1 FoodSafe certificate;

Clean criminal record check required;

Valid standard first aid and CPR certificate;

Valid BC Class 5 driver’s license with clean drivers abstract.
