This executive search is conducted by Nelson/Kraft & Associates on behalf of Tabor Home Society.
Executive Summary:
Tabor Home Society is searching for a collaborative, servant leader with a clinical background to join their team as Director of Care (DOC). The DOC organizes and oversees all nursing operations of the facility, creating a collaborative and efficient workplace with attention to quality standards and policies. They will participate in the development and evaluation of resident care programs and initiate and monitor quality improvement activities.

Key Responsibilities:
Resident Clinical Care
Ensure ongoing development of comprehensive care plans tailored to each resident’s requirements.
Investigate and report on risk management issues such as unusual occurrences and resident complaints.
Leadership
Provide leadership and direction to staff involved in the provision of continuing care.
Be available to nursing staff for problem consultation and guidance.
Coordinate and communicate with other departments to ensure goals are monitored and reviewed.
Ensure nursing staff receive orientation, training, and performance evaluations.
Be involved in recruitment, discipline, and performance management of clinical staff.
Network with other care directors and healthcare professionals.
Participate in multi-site committees to develop and implement best practices.
Occupancy
Liaise with the health authority for timely admissions to funded accommodation.
Work with the Director of Finance to assess care requirements for private pay applicants.
Facilitate transfer of residents to licensed care beds.
Regulatory Compliance
Audit and monitor medication administration and resident care plans.
Lead clinical investigations.
Ensure Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives are undertaken.
Exchange information with outside agencies regarding serious incidents.
Provide reports as required by licensing and health authorities.
Monitor nursing standards and staffing levels.
Operational, Budgetary & Administrative Responsibilities
Participate in decision-making related to health and safety and resident care.
Work with the Executive Director to provide clinical care information to the board.
Work with the Director of Finance to forecast clinical budgets.
Perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
Degree in nursing; master’s degree in nursing or healthcare administration is an asset.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
Valid nursing and CPR certification.
Beliefs and values in harmony with Tabor Home values.
