Requisition #: M0431 Job Title: Director, Student Recruitment Division/Department: Royal Roads University -> Office of the Vice-President, Communications and Advancement Recruitment Type: Regular Full Time Category: Marketing & Communications # of Hires Needed: 1 Closing Date: October 21, 2024 Job Description: Reporting to the Associate Vice-President, Communications and Marketing, the Director, Student Recruitment is a member of the University's senior leadership team. With responsibility for developing and implementing comprehensive recruitment strategies to attract a diverse and talented student body, the Director sets and operationalizes strategy, oversees the recruitment team, manages outreach initiatives, and collaborates with various departments to meet enrolment goals. Recognizing that 80 per cent of Royal Roads University students are domestic, the Director has a deep understanding of the Canadian market and ability to drive a steady flow of qualified domestic prospects to the University. The Director also has knowledge of the international market and can work in sync with all regulations, agreements, policies, and procedures. As a Canadian leader in blended and online learning, 70 per cent of the University’s offerings are graduate-level professional and applied programs. The Director successfully positions Royal Roads University to attract learners to graduate (primarily) and undergraduate programs, identifying and actioning new markets for growth potential. Together with colleagues, the Director fosters innovation and drives results. This position requires a seasoned leader with expertise in strategic planning, staff and budget management. Job Requirements: A graduate degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 8-10 years demonstrated work experience, preferably in higher education administration including work in marketing, recruitment, admissions, internationalization, or community engagement. Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered if extensive experience relevant to the position outcomes and competencies can be demonstrated. Strong leadership experience having held senior positions with a proven track record in fostering a positive team culture and collaborative working relationships. Demonstrated understanding of marketing and/or sales, including the student/customer lifecycle, market demographics, generational characteristics, funnel or pipeline management. Proven student recruitment experience and market knowledge of Canada, the United States and key global markets as outlined in the Canadian International Education Strategy is considered an asset. Knowledge of the admissions, enrolment, student support services, financial aid and awards functions of a post-secondary institution is considered an asset. A sound understanding of blended learning, and the experience of students in blended programs, particularly at the graduate level, is considered an asset. Strong knowledge of national and international education systems, and issues related to transition to university, especially for international students, is considered an asset. High level understanding of trends and developments in international education, and evidenced ability to come up with approaches to address challenges is considered an asset. Proven experience with budget management, business development, strategic planning and project management with an ability to manage highly complex work under tight deadlines. Demonstrated understanding of key elements relevant to international student recruitment including English language proficiency tests, international credential evaluations, pathway and acculturation programs and Canadian immigration pathways is considered an asset. Results oriented, with the ability to bring innovation, energy and entrepreneurial approaches to existing and new strategies. Cultural awareness and sensitivity, and a general understanding of communication protocol and etiquette as they vary across cultures and organizations. Independent initiative, sound judgment and strategic decision-making abilities. Strong written, verbal and presentation skills. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise a high degree of discretion. Local, national and international travel may be required as well as occasional evening and weekend hours. An ideal candidate would also possess (asset, not required): Royal Roads University education Fluency in a language in addition to English Experience studying, working and/or travelling abroad. Additional Information: This is a regular, full-time position working 37.5 hours per week. This position has been evaluated at ME-D with a salary range of $136,340 (minimum) to $160,400 (midpoint) to $184,460 (maximum) per annum.
