The ministry supports Albertans’ health and well-being throughout their lives by protecting public health and promoting wellness; coordinating and delivering safe, person-centered, quality health services; planning capital infrastructure; supporting innovative information management and technologies; regulating health care; and funding the health system.The Department of Health establishes the Government of Alberta’s strategic direction for health, including advising government on health policy, legislation and standards, and public health concerns; monitoring and reporting health system performance; setting policies and priorities for the electronic/digital health environment; and providing oversight and ensuring accountability across the health system.RoleReporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister, Acute Care you will provide strategic leadership, direction, and coordination of quality, planning and performance of the acute care sector across the province. This includes providing strategic planning and leadership for overall acute care service delivery, provincial programs, developing and managing the acute care performance framework, and providing leadership for the performance and accreditation requirements of the acute care system. You will be responsible to develop and provide strategic advice on policy, standards, funding, and legislation. Your excellent communication and influential skills will lend to strong networks and relationships with complex stakeholders and partners. You have experience leading strong teams accountable for program delivery and you demonstrate an understanding of government and department priorities.QualificationsSuccess in this role calls for a progressive leader with a background that includes significant related senior management leadership experience. You bring a strong understanding of acute care, strategic planning, quality assurance, business technology supports, understanding of governance practices as well as change management and strong fiduciary experience. You bring demonstrated experience leading complex programs as well as an ability to work effectively with stakeholders to manage diverse expectations and interests. You can demonstrate the ability to collaborate and influence change across multiple areas without direct authority. A respected leader with experience leading staff, you are committed to building strong lines of communication and trust as well as empowering your teams to achieve results through performance excellence.
