Job Title:
Board Member – Treasurer (Volunteer) – Manitoba Eco-Network
Hours: Approximately 2-6 hours per month, including attendance at monthly board meetings and additional time for financial oversight and reporting.
Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba
About Us:The Manitoba Eco-Network (MbEN) is a non-profit organization and registered charity dedicated to promoting good environmental governance, supporting community capacity-building, and advocating for environmental justice in Manitoba. We facilitate connections, engage in advocacy, and conduct community-based research to promote meaningful public participation in environmental governance.
Position Overview:We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join our Board of Directors as the Treasurer. The Treasurer will play a critical role in overseeing the financial health of MbEN, advising on financial strategy, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain an overview of the organization’s financial affairs.
Ensure proper financial records and procedures are maintained.
Provide financial reports and updates to the Board of Directors.
Review and present the annual budget.
Oversee the preparation of the annual financial statements.
Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and legislation.
Assist with financial planning and fundraising strategies.
Act as a liaison with external auditors during the audit process.
Qualifications:
Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA) preferred but not required.
Experience in financial management and accounting.
Knowledge of non-profit financial practices and regulations.
Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with other board members and staff.
Commitment to the mission and values of MbEN.
Time Commitment: Approximately 2-6 hours per month, including attendance at monthly board meetings and additional time for financial oversight and reporting.
