The Opportunity: You'll be part of a growing team, using your skills as an Engineer to address environmental and contaminated lands issues and grow the business for WSP nuclear clients. With extensive work with Canadian and international clients working in the nuclear field (e.g., Canadian Nuclear Laboratories, Ontario Power Generation), you will support business development, investigations, remediations, and other assessments. What you can expect to do here: Adhere to site-specific health and safety plans to mitigate or eliminate risks to you, WSP's clients, employees, and the public; Identify and report potential and existing site hazards, near loss incidents, and loss incidents. Work with and lead a team of staff conducting a range of investigation and/or remediation works related to nuclear or conventional contaminants, including: Supporting/managing the remediation verification program at Port Hope and acting as the qualified person for this work; Supporting/managing subsurface and other investigations at Port Hope, Chalk River, and Whiteshell, acting as a qualified person for this work; Providing support to geotechnical and construction services staff as they conduct works on nuclear facilities and require environmental input; Managing other projects related to the nuclear industry such as research assignments, risk assessments, groundwater evaluations, or permitting requirements; Managing other contaminated lands projects that may include solely conventional contaminants or that may be for non-nuclear clients, including Phase 1 ESAs, Phase 2 ESAs, remediation, excess soil management, and risk assessments; Liaising with clients to scope potential works, resolve issues, and promote WSP's services; Liaising with internal service providers to grow WSP's services and ensure clients' needs are met. In keeping with our culture of technical excellence, we expect that you maintain excellent field notes and perform and record work tasks as requested efficiently and accurately while adhering to current industry standards and regulatory requirements. The current job position is located in the Whitby or Port Hope office, with a hybrid schedule. What you'll bring to WSP: Professional certification (P.Eng., P.Geo); 10 years or more of relevant working experience in the field of environmental site assessment (Phase I ESA, Phase II ESA, O.Reg. 153/04), with working knowledge of relevant regulations (O.Reg. 153/04, O.Reg. 406/19); Experience related to radiological contaminants, dose assessment, radiation protection processes, and/or associated instrumentation. CNL and/or PHAI related experience or training is valued; Prior field experience with soil sampling, remediation projects, and working with subcontractors; Excellent communication skills (verbal, written), strong attention to detail, and a passion for health and safety; A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for light duty projects within the area (reimbursable). #J-18808-Ljbffr
