Job Responsibilities
Provide inquiry based, problem solving based and project based learning opportunities
Implement specialized instructional intervention methods and approaches
Develop, implement and oversee Individual Education Plans
Develop and implement accommodative and augmentative supports
Prepare and deliver long term, monthly and daily lesson plan activities
Ensure that students’ overall needs for achieving success are met
Collaborate with Teachers, Education Assistants and Cultural Workers regularly and as required to enhance learning outcomes
Develop relationships with parents to collaborate for enhancing learning outcomes
Enforce the school discipline policy
Participate as a member of the school supervisory and extra-curricular teams as required
Provide written student evaluation reports and attend parent-teacher conferences
Ensure that accurate and complete student records are maintained
Job Qualifications
Bachelor of Education, Special Education certification preferred
Member in good standing with the BC College of Teachers
2 years’ special education teaching in a First Nations environment preferred
Satisfactory criminal records and vulnerable sector search
