The Solutions Manager is responsible for delivering leading warehouse designs to support Business Development activities and existing client operations. Solutions range from facility planning, network design, transportation planning and routing & scheduling. You will be heavily involved in new business pursuits and the costing, project management, equipment specifications, operational and physical warehouse setup involved in delivering your designs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborate closely with Business Development team in pre-sales engagement and client facing consultancy. Some of the activities are:
Meeting clients, site visits, assessing the opportunity, understanding client’s needs, and more!
Be working with the Operations management teams, assist in the identification and implementation of cost reduction, productivity improvement, and service level improvement opportunities at all sites.
Conduct operational feasibility studies, analyze data, design and implement facility layouts and material handling equipment specifications for transforming existing operations and new business opportunities.
Conduct transportation cost and data analysis to assess and optimize carrier and customer networks to be integrated into Customer solutions.
Support the ongoing commitment to continuous improvement by leading and/or supporting operational initiatives including reviewing and assessing current methods and procedures, and designing and assisting with implementing improved techniques.
Support the operations through analyzing productivity levels and developing standards for best practices by utilizing industrial engineering techniques and methods.
Demonstrate a clear understanding of corporate vision, culture and goals and incorporate these into all business solution designs and continuous improvement initiatives.
Work effectively with all staff to create a unified and focused approach to change initiatives.
Assist with the development of capital budgets when required.
Recommend best practices on preventative maintenance for the facility and operational equipment.
Support the development of site specifications for existing and new business opportunities as required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Post secondary education and/or a combination of relevant experience and education
Experience in logistics, specifically in a distribution/fulfillment centre operations utilizing a WMS
Proficiency using Microsoft office applications, AutoCAD and Transportation Network Modelling applications
Strong knowledge of transportation management system concepts (TMS, Network optimization) and process flows
Ability to build and drive greater collaboration between solutions and other functional areas including Business Development, IT, Finance, and Operations
Effective oral and written communication skills internally with all levels and functional areas of the facility and business and externally with clients, vendors, etc.
Ability to effectively manage and implement change in a team-based culture
