Compensation This position is at the L08 level with an hourly pay range of $41.30 to $52.25 (PSAC Bargaining Unit).
Responsibilities Reporting to the Manager, Clinical Informatics, the incumbent is responsible for collecting, assessing, and analyzing user requirements, departmental and/or hospital workflow, and supports process redesign to ensure systems meet the needs of clinicians and the organization for delivering excellent quality care. The Clinical Informatics Specialist evaluates, plans, implements, tests, maintains, and supports complex, integrated information systems that support clinical and health information needs throughout Yukon Hospital Corporation.
Knowledge and Skills Required Strong knowledge of current MEDITECH computer applications and processes;
Strong knowledge of other HCIS applications relevant to the YHC;
Good knowledge of multi-discipline, multi-site, and cross-departmental systems/applications and processes;
Knowledge of established and evidence-based best practices and procedures of nursing care;
Knowledge of clinical informatics principles;
Knowledge of trends and developments in the nursing field;
Knowledge of LEAN Principles and process/workflow mapping;
Ability to work effectively and interact with all levels of the organization including physicians, management, expert users, and frontline staff, as well as external vendors;
Ability to act as an advocate and be respectfully assertive;
Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with staff, consultants, vendors, and external stakeholders;
Ability to effectively work independently and in teams to meet deadlines;
Ability to understand and analyze complex information and problem solve;
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a variety of teams, groups, and individuals;
Demonstrated success in supporting clinicians and healthcare staff in the use of electronic clinical applications;
Demonstrated effective organization skills;
Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills;
Excellent oral, written, and verbal communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications The successful candidate will have clinical informatics experience or five (5) years of clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting using informatics systems; a degree, diploma, or certificate in Health Care and/or Computer Systems; education/training in Clinical Informatics; healthcare experience in an acute care setting is required, and an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience may be considered. Additional education in the clinical specialty of informatics/supplemented courses in computer software technology and experience with Healthcare Information Systems, preferably with MEDITECH systems, is desired.
