The preferred candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of transit/rail design experience. The Transit Group handles a diverse array of projects, encompassing all facets of transit infrastructure, including new and redeveloped transit stations, rail corridor improvements, parking lot expansions, environmental assessments, large-scale design-build opportunities, and more.As a member of our Transit team, you will collaborate with Project Managers and Engineers under the guidance of the Transit Manager on a variety of transit-related projects. These projects include elements of commuter and passenger rail systems, city infrastructure, and roadways.Professional Knowledge, Skills & QualificationsA diverse civil engineering background managing transit-related projects.Minimum 10 years of experience working on transit and rail-related projects.Registered or pursuing Professional Engineer designation in Ontario.Proficient in the use of desktop computational tools such as MS Office 365, including Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bluebeam, and/or Adobe Acrobat.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Strong technical report writing skills.Well-developed organizational, analytical problem-solving, project management, presentation, business/technical writing, interpersonal, conflict resolution, and customer service skills.Ability to establish and maintain effective business relationships with consultants, employees, elected officials, agencies, and the public.Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.The RoleThe position will involve carrying out the following tasks:Oversee and/or participate in the production of contract drawings for transit-related infrastructure.Undertake preliminary and detailed design activities.Prepare technical memoranda, preliminary and detailed design reports.Prepare technical specifications, special provisions, and forms of tender.Review quantity and cost estimates for completeness and accuracy.Assist in proposal preparation, including the development of work plans, schedules, and fee estimates for transit components.Liaise/coordinate with other disciplines in preparation of reports, design packages, and proposals for multi-disciplinary projects.Work independently and as part of a team.Actively engage in professional development and industry events.Ability to mentor and further develop junior and intermediate professionals.Personal SkillsStrong interpersonal skills.The ability to work independently and in a team environment is a must.Superior communication and organization skills.Attention to detail.Leadership.Integrity.Initiative.Client/Customer focus.Developing talent.Judgment.Priority setting & decision making.Project management.Building work relationships & partnerships.Why Choose Burnside?Are you interested in working for an employer with a 5-decade track record of building a great reputation both internally with their staff and externally with their clients?
