Closures Technical Centre, a division of Magna International Inc., is focused on the design, development and testing of Mechatronics products for the automotive industry. We are looking for a student working towards an Engineering degree for a 12 month co-op placement in our Electro Mechanical Systems team, starting on August 12, 2024. Your Responsibilities: Generally assigned to components, sub-assemblies, or systems that are less complex in nature – carry over parts, existing business and/or minor modifications. Where assigned to systems, responsibility is usually for component(s) within the system. Receives assignments, preparation of simple plans, designs, calculations, costs, and bills of material in accordance with established codes, standards, drawings or other specifications (usually minor components of larger scope programs and projects). Supports the complete development for the designated products including, but not limited to design, build and test activities, in accordance with standard operating procedures and the product delivery process. May carry out routine technical surveys or inspections and prepare reports. Supports customer requirements, regulations and product specifications into the design of the designated products, ensuring compliance with operational, cost, timing, safety, reliability, quality, and manufacturing feasibility parameters. Analyzes products and formulates engineering conclusions by the application of engineering and/or mathematical principles and tools. With guidance from engineering management is able to analyze QFD, FEA, FMEA, DOE, VA/VE and DFM/DFA, as required. Additional Responsibilities: Writes/compiles engineering content for the following deliverables: engineering specifications and documentation, including DVP&R’s, 8D’s, GD&T, BOM, prototype control plans, key product characteristics, engineering changes and work orders. Consults and collaborates with personnel in various engineering and design activities relative to product development requirements. Supports CAE activities (perform hand calculations). Supports effective communications within the project team and the customer, supplier, manufacturing and quality communities with guidance from engineering management and senior engineering personnel. Maintains all appropriate documentation. Understands and follows existing policies, procedures, work instructions and standards and makes recommendations for continuous improvements. Follows Magna’s Code of Conduct & Ethics and related compliance policies. Perform other duties as required. Who we are looking for: Developing communication skills: verbal and written. Developing organizational skills and the ability to successfully complete multiple tasks within established and changing deadlines. Basic competency in CAD. Proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and database applications. Working towards Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
