Login to your McGill Workday account and apply to this posting using the Find Jobs report (type Find Jobs in the search bar).Position DescriptionThe McGill University Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is inviting applications for a full-time position as member of the Contract Academic Staff at the rank of Assistant Professor (Clinical) based at the Jewish General Hospital (JGH). This will be a three-year, renewable appointment and does not confer eligibility for tenure.The successful candidate will be appointed to clinical practice at the Jewish General Hospital (JGH), a major teaching hospital affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at McGill University.The Division of Neurology has active clinical and basic research programs in cerebrovascular disease as well as clinical and clinical research programs in movement disorders, behavioural neurology, demyelinating diseases, autonomic nervous system disorders, neuromuscular diseases and basic science research activities in the mechanisms underlying neurodegeneration.Job DutiesThe successful candidate will contribute to a strong interdisciplinary clinical and/or research program in Cerebrovascular Disease at McGill University and will be expected to be actively involved in all aspects of McGill’s academic mission (i.e., research, teaching, supervision of students and residents, and involvement in academic and administrative committees). The incumbent will be expected to pursue scholarly activities and advance clinical care in Cerebrovascular Disease.All McGill faculty members are also expected to contribute to service activities within their units, the University, and the wider scholarly community. A demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion is also expected.Qualifications and Education RequirementsHold, or be eligible for, licensure as a neurologist in the province of Quebec;Clinician-Scientists with MD-PhD or equivalent research-intensive training are strongly encouraged to apply;Have advanced training, a demonstrated capacity to excel in academic neurology, and possess strong educational skills;Have specialized expertise in the diagnosis and management of stroke and cerebrovascular diseases, including at least one year of training at a recognized training program;Have training in interpreting cervical arterial doppler studies;Having additional training in performing cervical arterial doppler studies will be considered an asset;Be prepared to commit to maintaining, and further developing, a cervical artery doppler laboratory;Commit to develop well-defined clinical and clinical research programs in stroke and cerebrovascular diseases;Demonstrate excellence in education and commit to a leadership role in undergraduate medical education.Bilingual language skills (French and English) are preferred, or a commitment to acquire the necessary language skills to practice medicine in Quebec.Faculty/Department/Unit: Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Department of Neurology and NeurosurgeryEmployee Type: Contract Academic Staff ('Academic Contractual')Rank: Assistant ProfessorSalary: Remuneration will be according to Quebec health care fee scheduleJob Status: Full-timePosting Period: 30 days from postingThe following supporting documents are required (combined in one pdf):Cover letter and curriculum vitae;Statement of research/commitment to education;Names and contact information of three referees.McGill University is an English-language university where most teaching and research activities are conducted in the English language, thereby requiring English communication both verbally and in writing.McGill University is committed to equity and diversity within its community and values academic rigour and excellence.
