We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Geophysicist to join our fast-paced In Situ team. In this role, you will play a critical role in the exploration, development, and optimization of our In Situ projects. This position requires a deep understanding of geophysical methods and technologies, as well as a proven track record in the oil and gas industry.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Geophysics, Geology, or a related field
Professional member of APEGA (P. Geo or P. Geoph)
10 years of experience in geophysics, with a strong focus on In Situ oil sands producing assets
Proficiency in geophysical software and tools (e.g. Petrel, Rok Doc, Hampson-Russel)
Experience with time-lapse (4D) seismic analysis and interpretation
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to scale work according to impact.
Good understanding of the rock physics related to fluid, temperature and pressure changes typically associated with In Situ production
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; focus on collaboration and integration
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
Demonstrated leadership and project management abilities
Responsibilities:
Lead geophysical data acquisition, processing, and interpretation to support In Situ project development
Design and implement geophysical surveys to identify and evaluate subsurface resources and support production optimization
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate geophysical data (such as 2D, 3D, 4D seismic and other remote sensing datasets) with geological, petrophysical, and engineering data in support of appraisal, delineation and production monitoring activities
Co-develop and maintain subsurface models to support reservoir characterization, simulation and production forecasting
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements
Contribute to geoscience development through formal and informal mentoring and coaching
Influence team business planning through integration of geoscience and non-geoscience information
Location and other Key Details:
You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
