Student Assistant, Douglas International Student LeaderPosition Title: Student Assistant, Douglas International Student LeaderPosting Number: 01972SALocation: New Westminster and Coquitlam CampusGrade or Pay Level: SA - Pay Level IISalary Range: $18.95/hourPosition Type: Student AssistantPosting Type: Internal/ExternalRegular/Temporary: TemporaryEmployment Type: Part-TimePosting Category: Student AssistantsStart Date: 09/05/2023End Date: December 17, 2023Work Arrangements: Up to a maximum of 20 hours/weekThe Role: To assist prospective, new international students and exchange students transition to life within Canada, BC, and the Douglas College community.Responsibilities:Review training materials provided prior to the start of becoming a DCI Student LeaderAttend onboarding sessionAttend regular team meetingsHelp students develop social connections with other Douglas studentsProvide support to supervisor to schedule and facilitate meetings, workshops, and/or social opportunitiesAssist with creation of promotional materials for the programProvide a report at the midpoint of the semester and at the conclusion of the programAssist with creation of content for various social media channelsAssist with various administrative dutiesOther duties as requiredProgram specific responsibilities:Initiating and maintaining contact with new studentsAnswering new students questions about essential campus services and supporting a peer-to-peer networkSupporting our group of student leaders (mentors) in their position to help orient our new studentsPlan, implement and promote events within the program and for DCIField questions from prospective students via various social media platformsAssist Admissions Coordinators with various administrative duties such as databases data entry/filing, compiling reports, and other projects as neededSupport prospective students and Student Ambassadors with navigating Douglas website and provide students with admission-related information such as program, application process, admission requirements, scholarship, etc.Assist Admission Coordinators with organizing promotional materials and merchandise inventoryPlan, coordinate and deliver events for student leadersSupport Recruitment & Admission Coordinator in preparing and delivery of online and in-person recruitment events such as information sessions, campus tour, webinar, student fairs, and high school visitsGlobal Engagement:Assist in planning and implementation of GE events and activitiesPromote Global Engagement and their programs around campus and on social media.Answer general questions about student experiences with study abroad and global citizenshipTo Be Successful in this Role You Will Need:To maintain a GPA of 2.3 or aboveStrong leadership skillsA positive, outgoing attitudeKeen interest in working in an international settingKeen interest in facilitating intercultural learning and discoveryExperience with social norms and values of more than one culture is an assetTo be a self-starter with the ability to work independently with limited supervisionExperience in administrative workAbility to work effectively in a team-based environmentExperience using graphic design programs such as CanvaExperience using social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, and InstagramEligibility Requirements:Domestic students must meet ONE of the following criteria:Enrolled in, and maintain, a minimum of one (3 credit) course at Douglas College throughout the work termEnrolled in, and maintained, a minimum of one (3 credit) course at Douglas College in the term immediately preceding the work termEnrolled in, and maintain a minimum of two (3 credit) courses at another accredited public post-secondary institution in B.C. throughout the work termInternational students must meet ONE of the following criteria:Enrolled in full-time studies at Douglas College, throughout the academic yearInternational student at another accredited public post-secondary institution in B.C. with a valid Study PermitDouglas College is committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive and equitable learning and working environment. #J-18808-Ljbffr
